You know to some people I am like trash. I was treated like trash.

Now I have seen how people have changed horribly- overnight. I hate you, I hate life.

Inventing New-to-the-world Product

3 techniques to invent such products
- adopt market visioning
- listen to the voice of customer
- focus prototype to let customer test

Example: The Boy Theory
Sherly an I had a market vision to develop the ideal boyfriend. We listened to the voice of ladies (us) to find out the requirements. Next, we groomed a group of boys to randomly and rapidly come out with prototypic boyfriends for consumers to test and give feedback on. Finally we are able to improve and come out with the fully developed product.

I know it's ridiculous, but it came out in the exam today (inventing new-to-the-world products).

Presenting to you, my first ever well-thought birthday wishlist in my life:

1. Samsung Jet (or an iphone hahaha!)
My phone is damn chui now that I'm too embarass to use it in public hahaha.

2. Camera (I just bought one for myself! :D:D)

3. Watch
For work, classy dinner and trendy for play. Refer to website for reference. I like got diamond one! Hahahaha
http://www.fossil.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryView?langId=-1&catalogId=10052&parent_category_rn=30000&storeId=12052&Ns=p_subcategory_sequence%7C0%7C%7Cp_weight%7C0&N=0&conversionRule=PAGE_VIEW&Va=57&categoryId=211502&departmentCategoryId=30000&ddkey=http:ConvertGeneric
(Can you believe it, I don't even have a proper watch as much as I love them alot!)

4. Jacket
Not sports nor cardigan kind of jacket. Those smart enough to wear to work on a dress down day and trendy enough to be casual
http://www.forever21.com/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=outwr_coats_jackets&page=all&pgCount=25

Denim jackets are good, but i prefer those like Dressy Cropped Jacket, Satin Ruffle Bolero Jacket (abit too over maybe something milder), Satin Ruffle Trim Bolero, Satin Ruffle Trim Bolero, Frill Front Jacket, Shimmery Cropped Jacket, Metallic Satin Shrug. Long sleeve also can, but well, you all get the idea yeah?

5.Grad trip fund
Hahaha it's never too early to save up first!

6. Bag
For work/ interview. Trendy enough to bring shopping, and cool enough to bring to work. Got a bit of metal chain at the end of the strap for the edgy look would be nice. Can't really find any good representation of the range that I like, but yah, durable and pretty is the key!

7. Good pair of jeans

8. IPOD nano!!!! (Don't mind touch either hahaha)
4GB will do. Red/ Purple/ Yellow/ Green are good

9. Chio, feminine, cool and high impact toughness camera pouch with matching strap

10. Good baking oven
I promise I will bake for whoever buy me this hahaha!

11. Product Design books
Recommendations?

Hahaha last but not least the most important one is to have my friends to celebrate my birthday with me so I can use my new camera to take pictures of everyone! :D:D

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Alright I'm back.

4th week of school is starting and before I realise almost 1/4 of the semester has passed, work has started to snowball into something so big I can't handle.

Well, everything is kind of on the track:

FYP- Okay. Just a bit lost, should confirm the direction with prof soon and I need to do more readings.

MP4011- Design project. Everything seems on track, group meeting yields conclusion each time. Just the research, because I tend to procrastinate, I always do it the night before meeting which makes me panic and sleep really late.

MP4003- Some strategic product dev project. Just formed project group. The reading for FYP seems helpful to the project.

HW310- Professional comm presentation. Group formed, topic to be confirmed 4 weeks later.

Nexen Tyre Project- Some packaging design/ marketing projects with a korean uni and company. Has communication problem. But still manageable.

MP4102- Mechanics of deformable solids. Very jialat. 3 tutorials, 15 questions only know how to do 1 (partly because tut 2 and 3 unattempted).

One module in trouble, but that's not the worse of all. I think the biggest problem I have right now is procrastination. All projects on track will soon be in shit if I continue to procrastinate.

Therefore the aim this semester is to cultivate good habits such as waking up early and I must prioritise my task in order to complete my projects with little haste. It was amazing for the past few years I could live by with little or no prioritizing and heavy procrastination habits.

Anyway, new sem, new life. All shall be great, all shall be fine.

I remember a very very important thing that I need to do immediately- buy year 2009 planner. I always started shopping for it the moment my exam ends but this year, I seem to have forgotten about it. Sighh I hope there are still stocks left.

Friday, December 12, 2008

Clearly, exam is over. This is the first semester ever in NTU where 80% of the paper I took are qualitative base instead of quantitative base. That means lots of words and drawings, little calculation. Yes even for engineering paper. Very interesting actually and I quite like it for those that needs no proper english. That means I can write very quickly in point forms and sometimes incoherently as long as the idea, the point and keywords are there. :D

So now it's the holiday. I have 2 months. I'm like busy yet not busy. It's like there are a lot of things to do but it's not quite time to do yet.

Oh I've once again picked up knitting. I thought it would be fun to knit for tung and myself. Don't wah yet, I think in my whole life I will only know how to knit a simple scarf at most with 2 strips at the end (or maybe 3 or 4). This is the 2nd scarf I'm doing and yet it's still the same thing. I don't like to knit something that is too difficult because I'm quite sure I don't have the patience. I like the knit, purl thing and see the yarn grow into cloth so simple scarf is just the right thing to do.

Anyway, I guess I'm only going to knit only for tung because the yarns are bloody expensive. I should save my money for something more useful like investing in a trenchcoat or a couple of pretty knitted wear and long johns lol.

*****

Come to think about it, I didn't really regret taking that hollywood to bollywood elective module last semester despite it is one of the 2 electives that gave me problems with my grades. Like what the prof (can't remember her name lol) said, doing a bit of film studies is very useful in life because film is one of the few generic things that connects people together. Imagine going for an awkward, classy social function with strangers, the one possible leisure topic you could discuss with the other person over a glass of wine to break the awkward-ness would be films.

Not that I'm preparing to start a discussion over wine and cheese, in my case, I find it easier to ease my boredom in this holiday and talk incessantly about it to other people. The latter is self explanatory but not so for the former hahaha.

You see, I know the different genres of movies. Okay I may forget some but I google about it then I recap and I learn more and I feel satisfied. Then I know the genres. So let's say I like neorealisms, particularly Italian neorealism, once again I will google for those movies under this genre and then tung will try to download and we will watch it. :D See time spent meaningfully and happily in times of boredom.

However, the list of genres and the details of it that I know of are not exhaustive and there are alot more of it that I do not know. Nonetheless the little things that I know is like a tiny crystal to initiate crystalization, ready to grow this holiday for a more in depth wine and cheese film conversation hahaha :).

Hmm lately, I've been ill. Had some peristaltic malfunction/digestive problem so I cannot digest food properly. I could only injest glucose water, H2O, water and porridge water. Yeahh porridge water. Not even soup nor juice. That was the diet for the past 4 days and I felt weak and tired despite sleeping for 12 hours a day.

Thankfully I am able to eat today if not I don't know what would become of me. 5 days ago at the clinic I was 45kg I'm not sure now. Standing up, I realise I could see my ribs and the outline of my pelvic bone pretty clearly. Then tracing down the side of the pelvic bone was an indentation over a span of about 5-6cm and then there's my edge of my thigh bone jutting out. I could feel a round surface of the sphere pretty easily and clearly. So tell me is this normal?

Whatever it is, I really love eating. When I get better, I'm going to have buffets, lots and lots of sashimi of all sorts (Salmon, squid, yellowtail, swordfish, tuna... ichiban boshi's standard at least), steamboat, salted egg york crab, north indian food, dian xiao er's herbal duck and soup. Where ever the good food is, tell me. I'm going to be there.

Okayyys I guess I'm really feeling very talkative and random today. I'm sharing so much at one go. That's because I can't sleep you see, but gotta hit the sack soon! Got tuition tomorrow! Oh speaking of which, anyone interested to take over my tutee next year? Say mid Jan?

Criteria:

Subject: Pure Chem, Pure Physics, A maths
Location: CCK
Rates: Kind of negotiable
Preferably female undergrad whom I know hahaha

Alrights, got to go, goodnight!

Okay I don't ask for too much. I pray hard, please let me get at least a B tomorrow. I don't want to study anymorrrreeeee.

I just found out that superalloys will not be tested in MP3104 exam. Which indeed, there were not any questions on superalloys like previous semesters on Monday. So why did I waste 2 hours mugging superalloys last Sunday?!!!!

Had Business law yesterday. Writing has never been my forte and like I said, SU-ing it the best decision ever. I know what to answer for 80% of the paper but because of the lack of time, I only finished 70% of the paper and 40% of the 70% are incomplete (as in could have written a better structured and coherent essay). Well well let's hope I get at least a C to get a S :).

And woohoo my wireless modem is here today! Very nice. I can surf the net on my bed very soon :D:D.

The best decision I have made regarding this semester is probably to SU business law. It's 2am Tuesday exam is tomorrow and I haven't read a single examinable content of biz law. Not that I don't like it but just that I didn't have time and I was feeling lazy. Thankfully it's open book and I've got my class participation component secured.

I did well for my quiz today (must be my new set of pens!), I kinda found the add ons for my solidworks, one of my tutee made 3 grades jump for physics, 4 grades jump for chemistry and 5 grade jump for amaths (to think that I almost gave up on her but I didn't of course!), while the other one made 2 grades jump for chem and physics each. Jump for the better of course. For all that happened today, it made me less stress and definitely happy happy (in shearwood's voice) :)))

But this doesn't mean stress would be kept away till never end coz my lab report isn't on right track (I missed 2 out of 5 sessions 2 out of 2 consultations and honestly, I'm still clueless despite reading up), solidworks project isn't making significant progress (in fact sherly and I had barely started and it has been stagnant since 2 mths ago) and 3010 isn't shapely defined. All that would be due within the next 2 weeks and mann and each consist of 50% of the entire module. Hmmm... tricky tricky. :((

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Speaking of F1 in the previous post, I must tell, I was present at the first F1 finals in Singapore! Weeee all thanks to Tung that I get to enjoy this exhilarating race live for the first time in my life. I was very excited to see drivers crash and hor-lan, car tyres sparks and cars overtaking. Through out the night, my eyes were literally glued to the screen, occasionally to the track and I kept telling Tung that I want to see accidents and the cars crash hahaha!

Anyway, the area was really huge. With so many roads, fields and public amenities sealed up, they actually transformed the whole area into an enormous carnival. There were lots of food and drinks, F1 merchandises, stages and performances, car vintage cars exhibition, Zouk and DXO setting up their own party area, entertainers and acrobats all around the place! It's really amazing how different the atmosphere it is from the usual huge event like Chingay Singapore has. Even though the food there was exorbitant, say $20 for a hardrock cafe burger, $8 for a normal hokkien mee, $15 for a pint of beer and what not, Tung and I endured the pinch and bought some food to throughly enjoy the day without starving. Now that we know why the carnival is so huat. Oh and did I tell you, one magazine like program booklet cost $20?

That Sunday was indeed an eye-opener for me. If air tickets and F1 tickets aren't that expensive, I would probably want to watch more live actions (with accidents preferably) elsewhere hahaha :D.

P.S Vanessa was right, the extra money from the GST package signals us to spend more! Electricity bills will increase by 20% on average! Madness.

Happy memories must be kept and written down so that one day when I get alzheimer, I would still remember I had a happy 21st birthday and thus I shall make a record of it :D.

The 1 big 21st birthday celebration for me was a flop even before it started, but in return of this catastrophe I had many heartwarming birthday surprises for me. 2 Saturdays ago, Raiden had an outing at Brewerkz half turned up, but it was considered a very good number considering we are all year 3s and 4s busy with FYP and uncountable projects. Little did I expect, that gathering was also a little celebration to my adulthood then :).

Tung knows that I had many food cravings and one of it was to have steak. So that Monday (which was last monday), Tung promised to bring me to Outback Steakhouse for dinner and Sherly was invited too. Very thoughtful of him, but I was still feeling a little disappointed because that would be how I celebrate my birthday with friends- Sherly. No long yearned for boisterous celebration.

Obviously, I was gravely wrong. Tung actually invited my uni friends, Zena, Jinsheng, Cheklee, Joonhong, Daniel, Wenhao, Candy, Yewhang, Victor and Jinyao (cmi that day), all supposedly waiting for me at Outback. Weeee. Although it was just a simple dinner, but the surprise lifted my spirits all day long. I had a yummy banana chocolate cake as my birthday cake that day too :)). To think that I was incessantly asking Tung for days if he prepared a surprise celebration for me for the fun of it and he convincingly told me no (but nonetheless I was still feebly harbouring hope for it).

Tuesday, I turned into an adult bee, as what peiwen puts it. I was told to leave the entire day to Tung as he guaranteed a surprising yet memorable day, which indeed it was! That morning, he appeared in my room to serenade me with his vocal and the guitar he brought. How saccharinely sweet :)))). He offered to make breakfast for me but my mum insisted to do it instead because she wanted to make me mee sua with 2 eggs muahahaha she's so cute :D. After breakfast, my mum gave me an angbao, which was totally unexpected hahaha.

Later then Tung and I was supposed to go snow city but I told him I've got no pretty clothes to wear on my b'day so he brought me shopping woohoo which he later shared the cost of my steal :). Later that night was food cravings satisfication part 2, he brought me to a korean BBQ restaurant at suntec, with my JC friends waiting for me in a small guest room. :D Only Tung would go such great length for me :))).

Thursday's celebration was funny. It was supposedly a GL gathering/mini celebration organised by Minghui but in the end, it became more like a celebration with the chicken pox people. My chicken pox virus ancestors were there too. The ancestry of my virus could be traced for 3 generations at the table hahaha that's how communicable chicken pox is. Although there were barely 1/4 of the GLs, but it was really very nice of them to be there :).

I thought my birthday celebration would only not be wholly complete unless I meet up with the Zus since I've met up with so many people who went through milestones in my life. The Zus are integral part of my life journey so how could I not have them in this defining chapter? So there was a dinner at Sun & Moon with them on Friday and then a little chill out around Clarke Quay listening to the F1 cars zooming past.

Yep so the whole of recess week is like a birthday week. So I am old now. Came to think of it 21 years are really long years. I have yet done anything impressive enough for myself, to the society. And neither had I achieve anything meaningful nor great. What a shame. 21 years later would I still remain like this? No I don't wish to. So yep, I must really reflect on my course of actions, be less decadent, goal oriented and yada yada...

Anyway despite of the celebrations, I must disclaim that I did do some of my school work and projects and I madly pia-ed tuition throughout the week wahahaha. See less decadent already.

After school resumed on Wednesday, I couldn't wait for recess week to come. Before chicken pox, I didn't realise that this semester was such a horror. Everything was on track, but now they are all in a mess. Really damn sian lahh. School isn't as enjoyable as before. I could see darkness in days to come. This is the first time I feel like quiting school so much.

OMGOMGOMG! Shearwood removed the test quiz on edventure already! Shit! I thought he's supposed to remove it at 12 midnight instead of 12 noon. He said, "be sure to try it!" But I haven't tried!! Sherly, why is your shearwood so unfriendly? And what, Zhou wei doesn't have any lecture recordings? Why didn't anyone tell me that :(

Arghhh my semester is so screwed. I don't know if I should go back to school tomorrow. I don't want to spread diseases to my friends and screw up their recess week. There are so many projects! I think even my lab prof is quite wary of me too :(((.

But on a lighter note, I managed to pass the chalet to Kenny for his 21st Birthday Party at half price. Hmm at least not much of a loss. But the thought of 21st Birthday Parties still makes me a little upset. And there's Zena's 21st Birthday Party to miss today :((.

I have very crazy food cravings at the moment! I feel like having steak (I dreamt of it last night!), bengawan solo's lotus paste mooncake with single yolk, sakae sushi, salmon sashimi (many many of it!!), pasta of any sort, timbre's mushroom pizza, geylang's frog legs porridge, salted hum chin peng, can A's fishball soup, westlake kong ba bao, authentic korean bbq at west coast, chocolates (I want to try Max Brenner's!), chocolate fondant, eposh brownies, gelare sort of waffles with ice cream (I saw it on tv!), cheesecakes and macdonald's scramble egg. Hmm maybe I do not really want macdonald's scramble egg especially after all the rats and maggots incident. *shudders* I'm really deprived of food choices for the past 9 days. I need to satisfy my cravings somehow.

Oh and I badly wants to go shopping. I want to buy something nice to reward myself over the unbelieveable quarantine. I need to shop to know what to buy!

Okay I think I better study for Shearwood's quiz now. I'm going to read through twice and watch the online videos to make up for the test quiz! Boo!

Friday, September 12, 2008

It's been a long time since I last had a decent post. So to say, I'm very free now since I'm down with chicken pox. Yes in the middle of the semester, close to my 21st birthday. I haven't stepped out of my house for the 7th day in a row. Still surviving, still making myself useful. I have been writing my lab report since last friday and had finished at 4am this morning haha! One page a day you see. Also I'm trying very hard to learn Solidworks on my own to save myself from the piling school work, but apparently I still can't fathom it. Nvm. Tried to read abit of 3104 for the quiz next week but do not feel compelled enough to do so. You see, some pox are not drying up yet so I'm not sure if I can make it back to sch next week hahaha! But I do hope I go back next monday even though MC is until next Wed.

On the 21st of September was supposedly my 21st Birthday Party. A huge one. Booked the chalet early last month and got quite a bit of food stuff settled. Planned to invite so many people, 2/7, 4/6 part thereof; sec sch friends, first 3 mths friends, 04S01, PJChoir part thereof, Bedroom gang, JC friends, Raiden, Spartan part thereof, main comm 08/09 and 09/10 part thereof, GLs 08/09 and miscellaneous uni friends.... 140 in total. It's a rare excuse to meet and catch up with so many people at one go. Because of the pox, it cannot be fulfiled. I had longed for that party for 2 whole years. When Tung said that we are going to have a party for my birthday, I was so happy. The party is too good to be true and indeed too good to be true.

I'm quite cool with the last minute decision but sometimes I do get upset especially when I can't even attend some 21st birthday parties, for instance today's :((((. What a shame.

Alrighty mighty, wish me speedy recovery! I don't want to stay at home!

Saturday, August 09, 2008

So this is the first week of school. So here's abit of what I remembered happening for the past 5 days...

Monday

I was kind of disappointed because I didn't feel as excited as I think I would on the first day of school, nor did I feel like talking to anyone. In fact, it felt just like any other day back to school for EID, for any days in the midst of the semester, nothing special. I've become so much more laid back and boring. Hmm... is this growing up? Hahaha! Anyway when I thought of that Joey,, and I would bump into him and that we are studying together in the same sch with Jiaqi, hoon, ys after 2 years and I would also possibly a few other guy friends from sec sch and JC that I haven't seen for while and all, it made me felt abit better. And of course to know that first lab session of the week is cancelled it made me feel a wee bit better :). While the later part of the day, Tung made me very very happy :D

Tuesday

Nothing unusual happened in school, except that during the night when we had our very last main comm '08 meeting, I felt abit of reluctance to leave the comm. I thought it would be fun and fulfiling to run in the committee once more especially with so many people I enjoy working. But sadly, I'm also very adamant in applying for overseas exchange which doesn't make me a very good candidate for main comm. I left the meeting room with a tinge of sadness while a few of main comm '09 stayed for further meeting.

Wednesday

I was very surprise that I'm actually very much in the mood for school. I wasn't late for 8.30 class, paid full attention and made notes on my lecture for my core modules and that's like wow! Very stunning hahaha.

Thursday

Excitement in school is slowly picking up. Biz law lecture is cool! The lecturer is very clever and amusing which makes learning enjoyable. I love the lecture and caught almost every single thing that he said. Hopefully it's the same for the rest of the lectures.

Then main comm '09 selection was that evening. Response was pleasantly satisfying. We had quite a big handful of capable candidates to choose from but because everyone is good in different areas, it makes selection a little tricky. Anyway, I found my successors and I'm very happy with them :)! And yep, I'm too in main comm '09 for various reasons. Made me a teeny bit delighted but also worried that I don't have enough capabilities for the portfolio and it made me upset. I don't want to be a liability instead of an asset. Tung was very nice to encourage me and made me felt very much better.

Friday

Very busy day! Had a meeting in the morning with the P & the other VP to set visions and what not for the camp. I expressed my concerns and shared what I thought is my shortcomings and was glad that they trusted me and really didn't mind my possible absence for 6 months next year. So there, we are ready to go!

Met lifeng for a short catching up after meeting, then an hour of lecture, then lunch with Joey, then an impromptu interview, then met up with Tung and then GL outing.

Did I tell you how fortunate and contented I am to have all GLs '08 as my GLs? They are really one cool and enthu bunch of people that I really enjoyed working and being friends with. I wouldn't say that it's mine, wenhao nor daniel's magic influence that bonded and inspire them. In fact it's our love for the camp that superglu-ed us together. Their passion towards Insinyur is invaluable and one of a kind. Can you imagine how reluctant we are to leave each other that we came up with a new committee on our own? Hahaha! Everyone is one happy people that everyone loves to hang out with :D. More GLs '08 outing to come! :D:D

That sums up the first week of school! More goodys to come on next week!

I'm so tired, not that I've done alot these few days. I'm just jaded.

Goals could never to be met, problems could never be solved. Judgement and rationality are sinking into quicksand, no one wants to live. I don't know what to do, I'm just as lost. Maybe I can run away, I can hide, I can let no one find me. Yes let's go! But no, it's happening again and I have to go.

Boon Bee at 7/30/2008 12:55:00 PM :: link

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Woohoo! 8 days of non-stop camping, Camp Insinyur has finally come to an end! It was a super duper shag camp but all the shagness is worthwhile. I guess it's a pretty successful camp minusing all the backstage gabras. It's really heartwarming to hear freshies say that they miss the camp and stuffs.

Like I've said last year, every year with a different role in the camp, you will experience different things. When I was a freshie, what I saw was fun fun and more fun. Then the following year, I became a GL where I began to feel anxiety, and has more things to worry about, but I had a great share of fun with the freshies too. That's also when I realised that what is meant by with power comes with responsibility. And this year, as a CGL, what I saw was even more intensified. Logistic nightmare, money issues, HR issues, being a jack of all comm, no sleep nights, lonely days, worrying when there's nothing to worry and blahblahblah. But of course I had a fair bit of fun when I eat snakes to play with the OGs hahaha.

Huge satisfaction comes with accomplishment of great feat. This year's camp was nothing less than a enriching lesson learnt and a gratifying fufilment. I won't say I miss this camp experience and would love to go through it once more, but I would definitely miss the rahrahness in my 31 GLs (one down with chicken pox 3 days before the camp), the energy and enthusiasm in the freshies, electric chair, superman, shakeshakes, zibaban, "hi i am..."... and specifically, 够冷,杀路门,不入海,骚乱,尽力,累够了,干掉, 阿拉过 (you could understand me if you can forcefully read them into names of the characters in Lord of the Rings).

Well well now school is going to start soon. I'm actually very excited and am looking forward with eagerness hahaha. But for now I shall hold my excitement and continue enjoying my holidays!

In the meantime, here are some little snippets of Camp Insinyur 2008! Enjoy while I may be back with more to share :).

Went to meet jon and siying with ben and huiqing for dinner right after a 4 days seniors' camp because siying is flying off to shanghai and huiqing is flying off to US real soon. But dinner and seniors' camp aside first, let's talk about Falun Gong.

Yes Falun Gong hahaha. After dinner, all 5 of us sat outside taka for some HTHT and suddenly one guy came up to us and started telling us about Falun Gong. His objective was to collect 900 000 signatures for a petition to seek justice and truth for the Falun Gong practitioners in China who has died grotesquely and mysteriously or otherwise missing and still missing since 8 years ago.

I shall not share too much over here because it seems like a despicable topic in China and no truth has been told of about this cultivation. Also, the mention of this cultivation often send a chill down my spine despite it being a very intriguing and puzzling topic and that I've always want to know more, which I kind of did today, but with disbelief.

Regardless of his persistence in making all of us sign, I did not even though the rest did and I do not feel a least bit bad about it. This is one of the very few times I've felt so strongly about something and had stood by my stand. Personally I felt that I do not know much about this cultivation thingy and it has no truth to convince me into believing. Thus far, reasons of the mysterious death and lost were merely allegation of the cult towards the government and too shocking to believe accusation of the effect of the cult's practise.

I don't know lah, but every information present just seem so much like an open secret politics against a very large organisation (government). It leaves me very irritated because I don't believe those information! Arghhh. That's why jon said that the world is full of deceit and puzzles which you will never ever find if they are the truth or not and that leaves me even more irritated because I feel so cheated living in such society :(.

28th June 2008
8th SGDF Singapore Nationals Dancesport Championships &
2nd NTU Tertiary Dancesport Championships.

Tertiary Latin Grade E (Jive)- 6th

Team match- 2nd

Presenting to you, Team NTU

Participated in Tertiary Latin Grade E (Rumba) too but had only managed to get through one heats of the semis, but we came in top 10 nonetheless but there wasn't any certs because it wasn't the finals. This competition was really an eye opener especially when watching all the Grade A couples dancing together. It was just so exhilarating, the atmosphere, the dances, the people.

For the team match, didn't know it was one of the highlight of the whole event until the day itself and we were stunned by the fact that there was this opening dance competition, friendship rumba and presentation bundled with the match. It was fun though hahaha to be in the limelight for awhile though my partner and I was the noobiest there.

Anyway, a very special thank you to Sherly and Tung who came down to give me support and my parents who surprised me with their presence :).

And here, sunflower from Tung and the rose from Sherly that bloomed prettily at the later part of the day

The long awaited Cameron Highland trip photos!

Day 2: Arrival at the bus terminal in Johor.Brushing our teeth 4 am in the morning at Macs in KL.
Breakfast finally! Yummy chee cheong fun plus yummy porridge with lots of yummy century eggs but with not so yummy pork balls.
After 10 hours of bus ride from Singapore, we are at Cameron ready to trek :D.

The entire trekking party.
Feeling excited before the climb.
The Yihnshin, 2nd Sergeant Lu, myself and Tung.
Trying very hard to swing from tree to tree but I'm hardly above ground.Sorry, we can't help it. The forest really looks good for martial arts.

At the top!

Against the beautiful sunset

Day 3: The moonset above the silhoutte of the undulating terrain on one side.

And the breathtaking sunrise on the other side. These awesome photos were so prettily taken by Yihn Shin that I had to make it my wallpaper!

View from the 2nd storey of the scarily shaky viewing tower. The stairs are almost like ladders. It was so old and rickety that it threatens to give way every time we make a step.

Here we go, trekking down the highland...

And we found teletubbyland

Ha! But no, it's just BOH's tea plantation in Malaysia

Spot the chameleon!

Yay Cameron!

Ahha I'm back from trekking the luxurious (among the rainforest) Cameron Highland. It was soooo cold up there but we had lots of fun! We trekked, we cooked, we shopped, we bombed and we found husband. Shall keep my post short today because I want to sleep early to detox :D. So one photo first before many to come. :)

Arghhh once again, I'm struggling with my Nasonex. Tung is not around to talk coax me into using and I don't feel compel to use. Anything from the hospital is just so scary. :(

Visited the hospital yesterday for my bad ear because it's really quite bad. I never like visiting the hospital anything for myself because it means something is really dreadful to warrant my visit there. It gives me lots of naughty butterflies in my stomach and a suddenly weak gut.

I trembled when I was waiting for my turn, doing my test, talking to the doctor and even lying on the bed. But goodness, Tung was with me, the therapist helping me with my audio test was very nice to explain every device that she was going to use on me and she gave me simple but yet warm and encouraging words. The doctor was also very patient to answer all my questions that I had and the nurse is so soft-spoken and she always smiles at me and gave me a sweet. They made me felt much less nervous and composed otherwise I think I'm going to die there hahaha.

Anyway, I'm very sorry for the moodiness and stuffs for the past few weeks. I didn't want to be moody but I cannot help it because I was really upset by my ear. But don't worry now, everything is in good hands :).

After the turbulence admist the exitement, the dust have settled and here it is, we won THE FIRST PRIZE! THE FIRST PRIZE! First Prize in the Automation Category for Engineering Innovation and Design Project :D:D. Proudly sponsored by ST Engineering, our group won a handsome cash reward of $1400.

We were pretty confident of our prototype the moment we had the idea because we know that it's definitely an innovative idea with good business opportunity and an extremely technically challenging project. It is a fully automated pau dispensing machine which dispense fresh hot pau. The only concern that we had was that it's too technically challenging that we might have problem finishing it. But well, it's completed and it works perfectly.

Then then then, the next concern was competition because there were other groups in the same category having better innovations. Thank goodness, the judges saw our uniqueness, innovation and exemplary design in our prototype that won us THE FIRST PRIZE!

Hahahah I'm so hao lian now, but seriously personally I really think that my group's prototype is really neat. The mechanism, electrical circuits really fascinate people especially when you know they are all single handedly fabricated by us, students!

Anyway, here's a half done interior of our pau dispensing machine.

The user would first insert money and then choose the pau that he wants by pressing a button. Then the lever arm at the bottom will move to the level racks where the pau of interest is sitting on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt will then shift the pau from the rack to the lever arm where the lever arm will then move back to the level where the outlet is. The conveyor belt on the lever arm will transport the pau to the outlet and tada, you get your pau!

Now now, the most important thing to do is of course to celebrate! We are going to have our celebratory dinner this Thursday at KUSHINBO. But slightly before that, I need to close accounts for my group as soon as possible :(. But anyway, one more happy picture before proceeding to my accounts hahaha!

Omg... I can't sleep at all now! 1 and a half hour ago, I was woken up by a piercing pain in my right ear, it felt like as though it is stucked and heavy. I tried to sleep the pain away but it just got worse and I started breaking into cold sweat. My nose began to get stuck as well and I felt really breatheless breathing with one nostril. I guess it was because I was feeling panicky and I thought I was going die suffocated on my bed. I told myself to relax, to relax maybe it isn't that bad. On careful thought, it could be because of an infected ear or perhaps a growing wisdom tooth but still it feels really terrible. I'm damn scared and my ear is still hurting and heavy but I can breathe. All that I hope for now is for 8am to arrive real soon so I can see a doctor right away. :(

This is the longest duration I've disappeared from my blogspace ever since this blog started. I was exhausted from the incessant workload from EID (Engineering Innovation Design) that stopped me from blogging. Okay random updates.

I'm going to complain about EID! It is this irritating 2 AUs modules that I have a love hate relationship with. Every morning, the thought of waking up early (considering that my lessons in school usually starts at 9.30am) for it makes me very annoyed. But the design core module in the morning that I attend makes me excited because we do stuffs like modeling, carving, painting... which interest me pretty much BUT, every night I had turn my home into a workshop working on my model makes my blood pressure shoot. Then come afternoon, we literally squeeze our brain juice dry generating ideas, mechanisms and what not to build something new. Sometimes I had fun crapping and laughing but once again come night time after I am physically and mentally drained, we need to do research on top of completing the model makes me want to strangle EID if it could be strangled. I want EID to DIE!

Something happy, I am confirm joining the 8th SGDF Nationals Dancesport Championship and 2nd NTU Tertiary Dancesport Championship on 28th June! Should be competing in jive and rumba and or maybe cha cha cha. The whole thing is going to start at 2.30pm and it would end at 9.30pm. Do come and support!! Tickets are going at $20 for students but if you are getting the tickets between now and 17th May, you get a 20% discount. You get 10% discount if you purchase from 18th May to 31st May. Dinner will be provided. Come grab ur tickets soon! :D:D So exciting!

The chicks in the bird nest outside Sherly's room were killed! Despite surviving through the distressing childhood trauma of being abandon by its mum, it could not escape the ruthlessness of the stupid hiao cat which pulled off the nest from the clothes line and feeding on it like a delicious 2 course meal. Flirtatious haughty black cat! Don't ever sayang it if it ever flirts with you!

Woots! I just finished 1/3 of my exams today! Engineering Graphics and Machine Components, and French level 1. Speaking of french, there's something which I've always wanted to blog about since weeks ago but I've been too busy to do so. Anyway, here it is.

Some day 3 weeks ago, I was at the bus stop waiting for my bus and suddenly the relation between yin and yang and the male and female distinctions between nouns in french, spanish struck me. Like you know in chinese, yin is female, yang is male. The river is female and the tree is male just like river is yin, tree is yang. It so happens that the moon is female and sun is male in french and spanish like in chinese. I haven't garner enough examples (and I don't plan too coz I'm not so bo liao) but it sounds like there's a link!

Anyways, I know I've disappeared from msn, smses, calls, emails, blog and facebook for quite awhile but rest assure, I will be back in 2 weeks' time to spam all of you with my lovely greetings!

Ohoh and something which I want to tell you all! The short "translation" of the song I had for Joint Dance Concert is so funny! Listen to this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzhRr4PWD-Q and read this- "Ehh Magalenha bo jio......... ehhh eh eh eh eh eh." I think it's damn funny lah. Saw it on Jess MSN nick yesterday and I was reminded of it in school today and I secret giggled to myself :D.

Btw, I've just recieved a whole new batch of cool JDC photos!!! Watch out this space! I'm going to post it tmr coz I really really need to study for french now =x

**Updates**
Weeee! Photos photos! We seriously camwhored at the backstage like nobody's business that day. All sorts of poses, all sorts of nonsense hahaha. Now this is for everyone and particularly Vanessa, Yvonne and Sawhoon :)

I was doing the CRPP survey life path study by NIE as a follow up and one of the question they asked was, "how often do you take things that don't belong to you?" I clicked on "never" and I suddenly remember that I took an eraser from the design lab 2 weeks ago! I clicked on "never" anyway because eventually, I gave the eraser to Untung and forced him to claim that he took it hahhaa!

Anyway, CRPP life path study is a long term research activity that they have been doing it since 4 years ago and occassionally they will do a follow up by encouraging you to do their survey so as to complete their studies. They ask pretty lame questions like "how many close friends you have that you share your secret with? And stuffs like, "How many groups do you belong to in Facebook?" Took me a great deal of time to finish, but well, I finished and I ought to be doing french and tech comm now =x.

My beautiful tiny orange koi died this morning! It must have died of loneliness or otherwise of my absence these 2 days causing it's extremely devastated, longing heart and eventually it's death. :'(

I came out of the LT after fluids today and the sky was covered with dark clouds. The whole corridor looks really dusky and gloomy which makes me feels likewise. I felt so heavy and finally, I couldn't stand it and bought myself a chocolate cornetto and for some reason, it made my day! (but actually snickers icecream bar would be even better :D)

I feel so random at this moment hahaha.

My friend just jio-ed me to this Tertiary Instituition Skate Night tomorrow and I'm so tempted to go coz I haven't been skating for years! How how? Got dance tomorrow too! Blehh.. van would usually conclude that the consequence of this dilema is due to, "Hong sim" hahaha.

Oh well well. So many quizzes, so lazy, so tired. I want to sleep!

Joint Dance Concert rocks because the back stage scene is so cool! Never had I felt that pre-preparation for performance was fun and so much to look forward to. In the past, make up and hair styles were done by students and teachers and everyone was so afraid for their head to be touched because chances of your head looking weird after that are pretty high. However this time, the JDC committee hired Monsoon hairstylists and Sasa make up artists to make all dancers stylish. Very safe I think.

There are 2 dressing rooms at the backstage and I think there were like 7 hairstylists excluding their apprentices and 6 make up artists in each dressing room. For a moment, I thought I was some celebrated model coz there were like 3 hairstylist styling my hair at one go and they were giving tips on how to take care of my hair coz I was complaining to one hairstylist that my hair looks flat wahahah.

The whole image that we wanted to portray in our dance was the wild, domineering, hot and outgoing kind and that's how all of us ended up with the upper part of the face as elaborated as a cocktail mask and hair as voluminous as a lion's mane (the hair was like 4 times more voluminous and it took me 1 hour to devoluminize (if there's such as word) my hair!). The idea literally shocked the artists and they seriously thought we were joking.

Anyway, I don't know how the whole dance look, but I know I made small chunks of mistakes. Very within me, I felt a little disappointed but, I truly enjoy the stage experience and it is still very fun and satisfying! In fact, any sort of group performance on stage will make me please. Over the years, I discovered I'm someone I can't live without audience, appreciation and esprit de corps hahaha.

Well well I'm still waiting for my hair to dry and I'm going to viwawa abit hahaha I promise I will start studying hard tomorrow because the end of JDC marks 25 days before the start of exams! Very intimidating!

P.S. Many thank yous to those who went for the concert with me in mind. You all made me live hahaha. And for those who wanted to attend but can't, please don't feel guilty! Your desire to come and best wishes are strongly felt by my heart :D:D.

Blue Velvet

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars
She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours
Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of
Blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

Blue Velvet, that is the title of the song and the movie I've watched during lecture today. Passive as the music motif, Blue Velvet, and the introduction of the movie it may seems, you won't believe that the storyline is actually preposterously twisted and unexpected. I was pretty shocked and disturbed by the plots and scenes of the movie because it's like a sudden exposure to the underside of the world. Makes you realise how "PG (parental guided)" is our society.

In fact, the film was so shocking that it was described as a sordid and vulgar when it was first released. I shall not go into the details of the storyline and you shall find it out on your own hahaha. Nonetheless it's really a great movie, keeps you in suspense and continually thinking and guessing. Watch it someday!

What is this? This is mental torture. I realise I'm so reliant on friends to derive comfort and happiness that when there's a moment I had not choose to be alone to be alone, I feel like going crazy. It's equally stressful like what excessive work would give you. No, no kidding and exaggerations here. You are not me, you won't understand how terrible this feels.

Okay fine fine. I shall tell myself to hang in there. When tommorow comes, I can start doing a whole load of activities non-stop. I will go to the library and mug, dance like there's no tommorow, canvass for 4 whole days in a week and sleep 4 hours a day.

Sunday, February 17, 2008

It has been a really engaging, hectic but yet satisfying week for the past 7 days. Monday was quite peaceful, except that the Chingay briefing held then till late that night was pretty nerve-boiling coz it was such a waste of time. Then come Tuesday, which I should say, is the day that ignited the timebomb to really keep me on the move. I was selected to perform during open house with 8 other couples during dance practise and that makes me damn happy and proud of myself. It shall be the first time in 5 years since I've last danced.

Rehearsal till late on Tuesday and my top plan to complete my school work was somewhat affected. I slept earlier, planning to study my quiz early morning but in the end I woke up really late. Wednesday wasn't a good day. Wenhao had to attend to personal stuffs at home for the rest of the week and I was left to do the miscellaneous stuffs for Chingay that day, on top of studying for french quiz. I was thrown into a frenzy and I really felt handicapped then without him.

Valentine's day that is. It felt just like any other day, perhaps slightly more exciting. I dated my lab report with Sherly and Untung throughout the night till 6am in the morning. Slept till 10am and went to school.

Friday. Almost got into a road accident that day. I was messaging a friend while walking after handing in my lab report. I didn't realise I was crossing the road coz I was too tired to have any sort of situational awareness. I walked close to the middle of a lane and I heard a bus 5 metres away honking at me. I looked to my right and didn't realise what it was until my friend my behind shouted, "hey what are you doing?!" and pulled me back immediately and only then I realised what happened.

David's housewarming that night. Played In-between and we almost had a tenth of Zus' 2008 Christmas fund only that at the last minute, Js won the whole pool of money on the table. Now Js is richer by few tens of bucks, go rob him hahaha! Slept at 2plus in the morning while the others were still having fun. Even though I was kinda sleeping, I could felt that I was consciously trying to evade Vanessa's scrutiny of my toenails and the attempt to pluck it or smt like that. Left at 7am Saturday morning for ambassador training.

Slept for a good 3 hours on Saturday afternoon before going for Chingay. I would say, this year's Chingay must have been the grandest among the others they had. The procession was around Padang and then along Connaught Drive and Raffles Avenue, with better looking floats and many more boisterous performances. That faithful day, I had embarrasingly brought a group of people to the wrong place for deployment. Bahh. But apart from that, everything went pretty well and I guess that most of my subcomm must had enjoyed the night and for some reason, they sort of had a feast while working. Good day, the Chingay night party ended early and I manage to rest abit more! :D

After those energy draining days, I thought I deserved a break. Went Ikea with Jiaqi for upholstery and home furnishing shopping. I know I shouldn't, but shopping more fun :D.

Alright, that sums up the days of my week and now seriously, back to work :(.

Recently, I've watched a film Chungking Express directed by Wong Kar-wai back in 1994 during my hollywood to bollywood lecture. Not that I like it very much, in fact I didn't quite know how the different plot links with each other hahaha! But one thing that caught my interest in the film is the emphasis of expiry dates. It reminds me of what David told me what his mum told him- there's an expiry date to fate. All sorts of fate. Once you didn't cherish it, you miss it totally. I convincingly agree to that and at this point in time, I reaffirmed my belief.

Went to Keeseng's house today! His house is just like a place for an experience of the most "in" television compatible gadgets ever available in Singapore. Since many years back, we started with the most primitive playstation, then to whatever playstation that happened to be available in the market, which I'm not too sure of the sequence of birth of them and then finally this year, we have the Wii Fit.

Wii Fit is this fascinating set of gadgets and program containing all sorts of sports from track & field to yoga and meditation and whatever not activities that you need to move your body. You can load the program onto some player connected to the TV and with a wireless remote control or a weighing machine like panel (but slightly bigger), you can play your favourite sport tennis or have your marathon or even a set of monitered arm toning exercises all in the comfort of your home. So cool right?! Truly, he does live up to the name of a PE teacher.

Ahhh! I love love love my niece so much! Went to my 3rd uncle's place for dinner today and she's there too. We kept each other entertained for 3 hours straight while the rest of my cousins, uncles and aunties entertained themselves with blackjack. She gave me a peck on my cheek before I went home. Awww she's simply irresistable! If I could, I would have probably kidnapped her to my place to stay for the night hahaha!

See lahh because of her I so want to pon Chingay next week hahaha (but you know I won't)! It's her baby sister's first month old party. I want to goooooo!!!

I dreamt about fluid mechanics last night! Can you believe it? It's CNY and I'm thinking of such things is this stress or what? Well, maybe it's the guilt the little angel in me has been feeling because I've declared holiday last Friday to give myself a little breather but since then I had not done any school work.

Visited my grandma yesterday and for the first time, I met my 4 years old niece (she calls me 表姑). She's super cute cannn! Very sociable for her age and you won't sense a wee bit of shyness in her. The moment I stepped into my grandma house, she ran over to hold my hands and lead me in and gave me oranges. Then while I was talking to my cousin, she climbed onto my lap to listen what we were talking about. Before she left, she went around hugging everyone and then she gave a big wave before trotting after her daddy. How lovable! She made me very happy and for once, less awkward with all my older relatives around (even my cousin is 14 years older than me!).

Alrights I guess I should do some work before indulging myself in the festive mood later in the evening (steamboat at Jiaqi's!).

Damnnn. I lost my thumbdrive last Friday and I just realised it! I just recalled that I forgot to pluck out my thumbdrive from the computer terminal after using it. Arghhh...

Please if you see my thumbdrive, have a heart, please give it to the lost & found. If you think you only have half a heart, I don't mind you take my thumbdrive but please don't look at what's inside and delete it. If you think you have no heart to do any of the above, you go eat shit.

I was on the phone with Vanessa yesterday. I was telling her how expensive those latin dance shoes I am going to buy are, as compared to those that we bought back then 8 years ago in secondary school. Comparatively, we were really making a mountain out of a mole hill coz those latin shoes are at least 6 times more expensive than those ballet shoes we had.

We amusing recalled how impish we were, trying to bargain with the dance instructor to give us a discount for our dancing shoes and of course, we succeeded hahaha! From $15 to $12. Back then $12 is really some big money and considering that my feet are constantly growing and I always like to walk around with my dancing shoes, I wear out those shoes pretty quickly and had to change it like every year.

We were quite satisfied with the price of the shoe for almost four year until we going for SYF. We saw that those basketball boys always had people sponsoring their jerseys and shoes when they go for competition and I thought that it wouldn't be too much if we request for the school to sponsor our dancing shoes since we were going for competition too plus it's so much cheaper than the basketball shoes. So we broached the topic to the teacher I/C and from her to the HOD of PE and the next thing we know, we got our shoes free!

Mischievious days of my life. Hahaha. There's really no such things as bargaining for a cheaper shoe in school and I guess I won't have the guts to do it now lol. People would probably think that I'm some sort of cheena piang ah soh misfit in uni wahahah. Anyway, this semester, I shall gladly save and scrimp for the sake of those pretty dancing shoes so I can do a clean split for rumba :D

I donated my first packet of blood today! Finally! Hahaha see I can do it lol! Initially Eric told me to give up the thought since I was rejected so many times and he sees no difference this time round, but in the end, I went and I succeeded muahaha.

Somehow I ended up going through the process alone. I had butterflies flying erractically in my stomach and I was so frightened that my hands and feet turned really icy. The nurse injected some local anaesthetic on my left arm before poking in the really huge needle to draw my blood.

I was really afraid that I would imagine the pain if I had seen what she was doing. So I turned around and prayed really hard that she won't hurt me and I won't jerk my arm for no reason but the needle poking process took damn long. "Your vein too slippery, very hard to find." When she said that, I can already imagine that she was wriggling the needle in my skin and I didn't feel good. Seriously, I would rather not know what she was doing. It took quite awhile before she said okay and commented that my vein is too small and soft. I turned around and saw blood flowing out. I didn't managed to fill the whole bag with my blood, but still, it's quite a feat for me to come thus far hahaha!

I was told not to do strenuous exercises within 24 hours. I did have the intention to rest until tomorrow coz I had alittle headache when I reached home so I took a nap. But after I woke up, I felt perfectly fine and I went for dance practise :D:D. Anyway, blood donation is really a painless process, except for the injection and the blood test (that punctured wound bled so much that it over-soaked my plaster and stained my shirt and shorts) which would only hurt a teeny weeny bit if you have really sensitive nerves. So do go donate blood! :)

*********

I was trapped in a whirlwind of lectures, tutorials and after school activities for the past 5 days. It's really exhausting to have your day pack from morning 9.30am all the way to 10pm (or even later), but I would regret if I didn't do it.

Recently, I have picked up a new activity- latin dance. I had my very first lesson on Tuesday and it was really fun! So far we've learned the basic steps for Chachacha and Rumba and we've recieved some sculpting lessons on our postures and movements. I was pretty surprised to see quite a few familiar faces and no one would have thought I would meet my first 3 months OGL, Bosheng in class hahaha! Haven't seen him for like almost 4 years already!

And yep, you've guessed it right, this new commitment kinda show that the orchestra practise last month was the last of this academic year. Time to try new things! I would really love to try as many things as I could within my capabilities before anyone could say that I've missed my prime hahaha. Anyway I would probably go back during holidays if they don't mind an ingrate like me =x.

I think today is the most xiong day of the week since school starts. It seems like I just had a lecturathon that last from 8.30am to 6pm with a mere 2.5 hours break in between.

I attended CS119 almost alone today. Actually it feels kind of weird attending such a long lecture alone. Moreover it's an elective so I'm supposed to have fun alongside with enjoying the lecture. Now I can strongly feel a big part of fun is taken away when there isn't accompany despite the lecturer is very entertaining and the whole lecture being interesting. But thankfully today, Jason crash over for the first half of the lecture before going for his next lesson because he is interested in the module but had foolishly dropped it and couldn't get it back, and that the 2nd half of the lecture was the screening of a gleefully amusing and contemporary bollywood movie. So it wasn't so bad afterall. Maybe during the next lecture I must scrutinise the place more carefully maybe I can spot familiar faces.

Tuesday, January 08, 2008

Woohoo! I wonder is this blessing from heaven or what the start of school was miraculously wonderful!

First, I managed to get 2 of the electives I chose as first choice during registration, then for the first time I log in during add/drop period to change Yewhang's and my Tech comm class to Jinyao and Jeremy's, I managed to do it without any hassle :).

I thought I don't know anyone in my lab project group this semester because it's a whole new lab group again despite trying to arrange the same lab group with Untung since we were in the same one last sem. In the end, I realised I knew everyone in the lab group and had briefly spoken to each other before and they are really funny people! Had enjoyed my first lab session. Moreover, after project session, my group plus Untung's (with Anthony in it too :)) will combine to do our lab experiments.

Also, I was a little worried about this elective, "Fictional Films: From Hollywood to Bollywood" I'm going to take from Communication Studies. Just read the syllabus and it turned out that their quizzes will be in MCQ and short answer question format, no tutorial, no projects, just one 3 hours lecture per week and what's more? Movie screening every lecture! I'm half relieved from the anxiety and right now to remove all that burden, I just need to pray hard that the format for that exam will be really straightforward like TCM.

The semester started pretty well and it is my responsibily to mantain it and to end it off with good results so I can proudly call this year a great year. So these shall be the motto I must try to stick to!

"A chapter a day keeps your Cs, Ds and Fs away."
"A question a day keeps your Bs away."

:D

New year eve celebration was... extraordinary. It was supposed to be a celebration themed, "Farewell to Sawhoon & 2007" but Sawhoon couldn't make it so it became a simple "Farewell to 2007" with Van, Jiaqi, Law and js in the heartlands of Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak and CCK.

Had dinner at coffeeshops in Batok and we stuffed ourselves silly with sambal stingray, sambal flat fish, sambal kangkong, lala, onion eggs, bbq sotong, rojak, ice cream and slurpee so much food but I was still not satisfied. After that, took a stroll back to CCK, passing by Little Guilin to look for 5 cents shows, then we had a checkpoint at the deserted Brickland Road where we waited for Sawhoon and her boy to countdown with us. Shortly after, Yvonne came over to join us at the fitness corner near to mine and Sawhoon's house and had a long chat there till wee hours in the morning, and that sums up how we spent NYE.

That's how bo liao we were hahaha! No one will spend NYE like us. It's always like that. Christmas celebration is almost always lavish and much noted by everyone but not so for NYE. Anyway, there's no way to spend both holidays with so extravagantly especially when both holidays are so close together!

So 2007 is over and now we shall embrace the much anticipated 2008. Strangely, it's a new year but I don't feel so much of a renewal. Perhaps it's because 2007 was so fun and rewarding that I don't feel like spending 2008 different and I just want to spend it better. But change it good, so are surprises. Hopefully for the next few hundred days to come would be a fulfiling and a pleasantly surprising one :).

P.S. Goodbye Yaolong who left ytd to UK and Sawhoon who will be leaving later today to China. Have fun! :D

I've got back my year 2 semester 1's results! Although it wasn't very fantastic but I'm really very happy about it given the total amount of hardwork put in throughout the semester. I thought I would ta bao electronics and scrap through thermo and get a grade much less than expectation for lab coz of my incoherent lab reports, but then I was pleasantly surprised! Of course, there are some modules such as maths and mechanics of materials which wasn't up to expection but they are generally satisfactory.

All those nights spent in hall is truly worth it!

Thursday, December 27, 2007

Was supposed to do this post 2 days ago but I was too tired after the party and that boxing day was spent suntanning, dinner + tauhuey + chwee kuay-ing (tau huey's best friend during supper for days to come), but it isn't too late now to do it either :).

Christmas party was a blast! I thought that our craziness had reached a saturation point say 2 years ago where we started to meet less often. Maybe occasionally it would be rekindled during clubbing but I was so wrong! Christmas eve was filled will loads of laughters, madness and excitement.

For the 5th year celebrating Christmas eve and the first moments of Christmas together with Jiaqi, Johnson, David, Vanessa, Joey, Gerald, Sawhoon and for the first time with Yvonne and Kianhai, we decided to do it different. Instead of having the usual boring dinner at crowded restaurant and then being aimless for awhile always before we decide to head to some pubs to catch the countdown atmosphere (except duirng the first year we celebrated in a park where we witness some head plunging stunts into the sand) and then in wee hours where we will head to someone's place to stay over, this year, we booked a luxurious hotel room big enough to accomodate the 10 of us to hold a fantabulous bash.

We had glorious food, music, very much anticipated countdown that we brought it forward by 5 minutes, thrilling and chaotic gift exchange, merciless finger guessing games and of course our all time favourite twister where the person spinning the board always ended up giving their own killer moves and we partied and cam whored whole night till dawn (okay I played cheat I slept at 5am but I woke up at 7!).

Seriously, our celebration was nothing less than fun hahaha I shall not go into the details of what other sort of activities all of us had done during our state of high-ness lest it shock you or even myself when I read my own blog post years later. To make up for that, I shall share some of our lovely taken photos that day :D

Posing with the cursed mighty white throne before party starts.

Dinner for the night, excluding log cake and gingerbread

Friday, December 21, 2007

I was trying to show the archives of my blog on the blog the whole night and I finally figured out how to do it! Suddenly feel like doing so so that we can all reminisce about the past and share with you how I was like in my younger years although it's kind of embarassing.

After accomplishing that major feat for a computer idiot like me, I read the very first posts I made when I was in J1 till the end of J2. Goodness I sounded so pessimistic and depressed all the time! Not only that, I was so unmotivated in my studies and was I so immatured. I was so sloppy that you could see my slothiness in each of my posts, be it content, language or organisation. Back then, I guess I had momentarily lost my direction and drive in life due to a series of setbacks, but yet I did nothing to put everything in place.

But thankfully, I slowly started to grow out of those negative thoughts and habits from the start of J2. I discarded away the resentment I had for my school and tried to bring myself out of those shitty pot holes that I led myself into by my own foolish thoughts.

No one is forced to be unenthusiastic. It's truly all about one's choice on how you would like to handle your problem, positively or negatively, which ultimately determines how much more happy moments you will have in your life. I've wholeheartedly accepted it and therefore I'm now happy everyday :D:D (although still I do complain abit here and there, but say only lahh).

Anyway, as wasted as my JC life had been, those were still very memorable and enriching years that opened my door to personally experience so many insights in life. So not that wasted afterall! Hahahah

I've finally completed my 5 days of extreme outdoor activities! It was truly a rewarding experience with cuts and bruises and of course memories worth remembering for life.

Left for Malaysia on the morning of 13th Dec. We rented our bicycles from a bike shop at changi before setting off to the Ferry terminal at Pengerang. Checked in at their mini custom and immediately a short briefing, we mounted on our bikes and off we go to Desaru! Along the way, we stopped at Sg Rengit for lunch and we also visited an ostrich farm, where we witnessed how ostriches mate.

After the stop at the ostrich farm, the final 15km of our journey was an awfully arduous and particularly physically demanding one. There were 11 hills for us to conquer on our bike! No joke man! We crossed hills after hills, we passed lalang fields after lalang fields, plantations after plantations, trees after trees, just as I was about to raise a white flag and hitch a ride on the lorry, we saw lighted street lamps ahead of us and there we know we are reaching! Upon seeing the huge signboard that says "Desaru" was so gratifying. Never have I felt so accomplished. We hurried our way into the resort and took a really good rest till the next day. Ohh wait wait our really good rest meaning a really good game of mahjong throughout the night hahaha! Wenhao & Candy a team, Yonghan and I a team and Lyanna and Untung another and Jinyao fought alone, nonetheless, he made a huge killling that night, but my team wasn't bad either hahaha :D.

Next morning, we had brunch before cycling off to a small petting zoo to take a look before we decide to head back to the resort for soccer. Yes soccer! It was a funny soccer game, there were people perpetually knocking over those lamps at the backyard of our rooms and then seeing lizard escaping frantically from under the lamp. I was involved in the game too and that was how I earned 2 of my gigantic bruises on both of my legs.

After soccer was dinner at a seafood restaurant. Woohoo the seafood was fantastic! Lobster salad, crayfish, prawns, crabs, shellfish, whatever you name, we have it. So fresh, so delicious. No wonder Untung is always promoting m'sia's seafood.

That night was a romantic night. We laid canvas sheet at the backyard of our resort and we waited for shooting stars! There were so many of them! I've never seen so many stars on a patch of sky it seems like fantasy but yet it feels so real.

On the 3rd day morning after breakfast, we set off from Desaru to the ferry terminal at Pengerang on our bike and then back to Singapore. Throughout the 3 days trip, we've cycled more than an unbelievable 100km. Ended up with retarded leg muscles and very sore buttocks, but well, it's all worth it!

Rested for a day before starting my 2 days 1 star kayaking course at Kallang on Monday. I thought I wouldn't survive those two days coz I was already feeling alittle feverish and was down with flu and cough on Sunday after my trip. But ha! I endured and I survived! Now I'm a certified 1 star kayaker! So proud of myself! Now that sums up my 5 days worth of extreme outdoor activities. Before I officially end this post let me share some photos we took in Desaru :).

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

Let me do some more complainings before going off to Desaru in 9 hours time.

There's a price hike in everything now! EVERYTHING! Can you believe it? Not too long ago, Macdonalds cost slightly more than $5 for a meal but now it cost $6. Pastamania increases the price of each food entrees between 20-70 cents, the coffeeshop near CCK interchange is selling their fishball noodles a dollar more expensive, Comfort taxis has meters that jump even faster. Even the canteen in Mindef is selling their drinks 30 cents more than before. Vanessa's mum says that the canned food in NTUC are more pricey. I believe that the mama shop auntie is taking the chance to charge 10 cents more for each pack of Yanyan and 20 cents more for a can of iced lemon tea. Horrible!

If I were to go out one day and have fishball noodles for breakfast at the CCK coffeeshop, Macdonalds for lunch, Pastamania for dinner and take a cab home, I will have to pay $1+$1+$0.70+ $2 = $4.70 more a day! I can have a set of Pork Chop at Hall 14 Canteen plus a cup of teh bing which will probably leave me with an extra of 20 cents to use the public toilet twice.

Haiyahh so expensive!!! What has the world becoming to?? Hahaah I don't want to live long enough to witness such ill proportioned increase in prices of goods and my salary. Oh wait is there an increase in salary in the first place? Wahahaha.

Boon Bee at 12/12/2007 10:25:00 PM :: link

Have I told you how much I hate going to Boon Lay interchange during the peak hours? It's so congested like nobody's business, almost like how Orchard Road is during christmas. Inching about 100m say between Jurong Point to the bus interchange takes you about 15 mins. Totally crazy! It's slower than my 2.4km timing lahh. But sometimes during some rare moments of the peak hours or certain area of the interchange where the path is wider, you may get to walk quicker, only that you would knock into people once every 10 steps or brush against people's sleeves along the way. Well, not any better anyway.

When it rains, it's even worse! You get in the heavy rain without the shelter and u get drizzles in the shelter and it is so noisy when are at the interchange. Imagine the pedesterian walkway is already so congested when it has both the sheltered and non-sheltered walkway. Now you can't use the non-sheltered one. The supposedly viscous flow of the human traffic becomes static. What's more? Whether it rains or not, Boon Lay interchange/MRT station is still very smelly. The overpowering stench of chocolate and/or muddy water + dirt + pasar malam waste. *Faints

I think I should just stop grumbling. It won't help ameliorate the dreadful condition Boon Lay interchange is in at all. Btw, today is Johnson's bad karma day hahaha! Poor Johnson! But he still enjoys it afterall muahahah.

Damn siann I think I have no timetable luck anymore. This semester's timetable is disastrous! Don't mention the hectic timetable, coz I'm kind of prepared for it. But my exam schedule I cannot accept! 4 papers in 3 days!!! This is worse than madness! But don't care already lahh I'm going stick with it and chiong through.

Yesterday we celebrated Sawhoon's birthday at Clarke Quay. After that we went MOS's Milkshake, without the birthday girl, david, yihnshin and her bf. I wore my stilletto heels and it nearly took my life away last night. My feet hurt so much that I almost couldn't walk. Thankfully Marcus drove if not I would most likely spend a bomb on taxi that night or I would have miserably limp barefooted from the night rider bus stop which is 1 bus stop away from my house.

Exam is over! Went to Suki Sakura at Toa Payoh with Sherly, Candy, Wenhao, Jason and Yewhang to celebrate right after Maths paper. I tell you, the food is damn good. The sashimi so fresh that you can taste the sea, durian in the durian puff so thick as though there's only durian inside. Finally some taste of life. We have been cooped up for so long that we could have mistook abalone mushrooms for abalones (nahh kidding! Say first just in case you all really think it's true, which I'm sure you all have the tendency to think I would think that way hahaha).

Anyway, I had enjoyed these 3 weeks of mugging in hall even though Sherly sometimes boycott me from the bed and Siao Chien, Sherly and Wenhao often threatened to throw me away into the dustbin or dump me from high storeys! Although we had a damn big study group (Siao Chien, Sherly, Wenhao, Jason, Eric, Yewhang and occasionally Benedict, Untung and Rodney) we are still very productive and we had fun at the same time. Oh well, at least I did. The encouragement and motivation from we gave each other during the mugging period keeps me sane in a way and insane in another (coz I like mugging after that!).

Hmm and so now what? Enjoy, of course, although I foresee I'm lacking in much cash.

A few things to say before I leave for hall again,

1. I found a $50 notes along the corridor yesterday but I didn't picked it up. How stupid. I witness someone picked it up after that.

2. Thursday is my last paper.

3. I've done badly for Electrical and Electronics: Circuit & Devices. I was very upset. I thought that my effort put in it won't be justified and I'm extremely disappointed. I came home, my father asked me how's my exams so far and I told him Electronics more chui than Thermo. I thought he's going to be upset but in the end he was calmly discussing plans for ta-baoing that module! I felt so much better. I guess it isn't really too much about me not being able to forgive myself for spending so much time on it and yet not doing well but rather, disappointing my parents. But little did it know my father didn't quite have faith in me, to think that he even thought I might ta-bao during my uni years!

* Update**
4. I lost my red nalgene waterbottle for the 18th time and this time, I couldn't find it anymore. It's gone forever!

I really can't study at home! I've excessively done meaningless stuff that has no aid to my upcoming papers next week. I soduku-ed, facebook-ed, friendster-ed, watched TV, blogged, slept, stoned.... how unproductive.

But anyway I think I deserve to rest for a day after so many intensive, brain-straining and disciplined and motivated mugging days since 2 weeks ago. I stayed away from home, abstained from facebook, friendster, MSN, net surfing, kept myself within a loci of 10km from the school and had tried to mug at least 10 hours a day (almost fulfiled I think hahaha).

However so, I must not be complacent of my discipline lest my one-day reward becomes a luxurious 6 days break till the end of exams.

I will be having my ThermoDIEnamics & Heat Transfer paper tomorrow. I was so stressed about it coz I just can't do it :(. I spent 12 hours doing a paper yesterday and I was very unhappy about it. But then after that, I was enlightened. I realised those who had gotten A- and above (those that provide solution guides to past year papers) doesn't seem to be very proficient in their concept. They didn't have very accurate answers. So, I think I will just memorise what I can tonight and we shall see what happen tomorrow.

Just a while ago, my first 3 months JC OG friend suddenly chatted with me online. It's like the first time we have chatted in at least 3 years (or even 4) and goodness he still remembers me!

Finally, there's someone to reminisce those wonderful AJ days with me, apart from Law and Yihnshin who do so like once in a very blue moon.

I remember my OG being pretty happening. We often had OG outings after school, going over to the now AMK hub for AJ ice- the enormous ice kachang that can serve up to at least 5 person per bowl. Also, we had OG lunch like almost once every week if I didn't remember wrongly. And then there was once, I think we went over to Daniel's house to highlight our hair after we bought a bottle of hairdye, claiming that it's the OG colour. A few strands of the highlighted hair actually lasted throughout my JC years coz I decided not to cut my hair (I used not to have very long hair). Not because of the dyed strands of course! I had so much fun in AJ, mainly because I had a great orientation then. It was also because of everything of that orientation which inspires me to consistently be a GL year after year since J2 lol!

This is kind of funny. Suddenly there are so many things and incidents for me to hark back to especially during this exam period! Bahhh but I should be thinking of MOM, thermo, electronics, maths or at least TCM now!

Now is the period, where I don't mind listening to the little birds standing on my window sill sing. I can even be attracted to the desolated army camp when I look out of my window and start imagining stories (and it's not like I haven't been attracted to it before). Sometimes I'm even interested in the conversation of little kids when they shout across to each other in the evening from their houses.

This is also the period, where the most boring TV show appeals, and even the dreariest literary review is as enthralling as Harry Potter's adventures.

I'm wasting a lot of time!

Found this from a friend's blog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHvV2ygn2_4 and I really had a good laugh after watching it! Visited their blog too and I started reminiscing those carefree secondary school days. They called them themselves the "wacky triple science kids". I guess we were pretty wacky and troublesome too then.

I still remember we used have this "air-con strike" against Shen dian xia . We even had concrete plans to execute the following day after we decided to go on strike but who knows the next day was declared the SARS holiday. We used to stage a "superstar entrance" for Miss Ng when she's coming for lessons and we often had picnics in our circular classroom, bringing our homemade food to share with each other. All of us were also particular amuse by Chaohua's 72 bian stunts and the little bickers between Ahmad and him and occassionally between the both of us.

Sighh.. I really miss those days!

P.S And I saw one picture from their blog which they commented on Kaycee's sexy legs! Van I know you like! Muahahah!

Wooo I'm so excited about Thursday's presentation on our group's device. The device is supposed to be a ball launcher that is capable to transit a ball over a barrier(150mm) back and forth 5 times, across a distance of 600mm on a study bench. We are not supposed to touch the device once the first ball is released.

We have been working on it for 8 weeks almost intensively to brainstorm for ideas, searching for materials (recycled! that's another criteria), fabricating, drilling, sawing, filing, twisting... adding extra parts, adding more extra parts, fine tuning and more fine tuning. However despite all the hardwork, we are still not able to transit the 5 balls successfully (we have 4 at the moment), nonetheless I'm very hopeful and I'm looking forward for the presentation. I want to see other group's devices. I heard that some group's devices are as high as the ceiling, interesting!

The presentation of our device also marks the nearing of my final exams. How alarming. I'm still not done with catching up with the stuffs I've missed during the first 8 weeks of school due to various reasons, particularly because of poor self discipline and a very busy schedule, but thankfully after that 8 weeks, I'm pretty much on track. Just need a bit more practise and revision.

Alright mugging time! Vanessa and Evelyn I know both of you will finish your exams before I start so please don't go out without me! Wait for me! If not I will call and moan and groan and grouse to you hahahaha!

Today is the big day. Hahaha not like I'm playing some solo pieces or what, but still on a personal note, it's a big day for me. I have never played in a real orchestra before. Actually to start with, I was never involve in a substantially large scale concert like this with the whole program solely involve by our own orchestra. It has always been my wish since I finished JC. Along the way, I had felt like quiting but goodness, I didn't! It isn't easy to come thus far especially with the kind of scanty violin playing skills I have and my easily wavered heart if there's nothing to guide it. But thankfully the fervour for pursuing my wish was strong enough plus the encouragements and motivation I derived from my friends and family allowed me to overcome all odds. Okay this is getting abit too drama already hahaha!

For this concert I touch my heart and I dare say I've put in a considerable amount of effort practising, although I still can't perfect my strokes and notes yet. But yeahh I will do my best today and hopefully I don't get a stage fright or anything of that sort :D.

Weeee! Celebrated my 20th Birthday 2 days ago and it was fantastic!

And part of this entry shall be an entry of thanks hahaha.

1. Zu family.
For celebrating my birthday 1 month in advance in view of law's departure and Johnson's absence and probably mine too.

2. The girls, Yaolong, Yongjoo and Marcus.
The great lunch treat and company at Jack's Place on the afternoon of my Birthday :).

3. Spartans and Eric
For the wonderful BBQ and surprises and the trolley ride hahaha! I love my beeeeeg balloon, bees and beehives (and the intention of borrowing a bee mascot hahaha)!

4. Everyone who had played a significant role in making my day memorable.
In one way or another be it messages, presents or presence, thank you all! :D:D All of you made me very happy hahaha.

Boon Bee is a very fortunate girl :).

*******

Went kite flying at one of the fields in Marina South with Wenhao, Candy and Yewhang today. It was my first attempt flying a kite. Yes yes don't laugh first time in 20 years! I didn't make it fly despite running like crazy. Until the uncle who sold us the kite came to help us, then we realise it's not the running that makes the kite fly. It's the skills and common sense which we were kind of lacking (more of the skills not so much of the common sense part haahah).

After kite flying, we crossed the road to Chin Huat Live Seafood for our first ever Camp Insinyur 08/09 Committee outing (main + sub comm). Woohoo! Thankfully it turned out pretty well. Very heartening indeed :).

Had so much fun for the past 2 days and now, time for serious stuffs. More string orchestra practises, more tutorials, more test preparations and more project meetings wahahhaa.

Something trival happened and it kind of makes my day.

I was slowly climbing up the dreadful stairs to Nanyang House, lugging my bulky violin in the evening today. Midway up the stairs, I stopped for a while to adjust my load and unexpectedly, someone from behind ran passed me, rushing to the same place as I was going. While he was a few steps ahead of me, he paused for a while and turned to me.

"Do you need help with that?" He asked as he was pointing to my violin and panting slightly.

Wahhh at that moment what he did really warms my heart lahh. I mean how many times we actually meet such pleasant people who offers a helping hand to someone you don't even know, plus that the person doesn't look needy (I'm very sure I don't look needy then)?

Anyway, I refused his help so he continued running up the stairs and some how, my load seems a little lighter :).

Went for Insinyur supper hop last night! I missed the one last year because of CCA I think, but I told myself not to miss this year's regardless of what. Thankfully, I went. It was so fun!

Met up in school at 8.30pm, set off to Esplanade Glutton's Bay. Sort of Celebrated Huetheng's birthday and we had a pretty filling supper before going for a movie at Cineleisure. Almost 100 people or maybe more that went for the supper hop and we practically filled up 1/3 of the cinema! After that, dropped by Geylang for tauhuey and 龟岭膏 and some other desserts. Got a bottle of 24 味茶 (a very bitter herbal tea) too for 中即密码. Then took a stroll along the even lanes of Geylang and it was really an eye-opener. Last stop was Jalan Kayu. We were already very full but what's the point of the supper hop without eating? So we ordered pratas and stuff ourselves to the brim wahahaha. It was already 6am when we left the place for NTU. And yep, I've survived another night this week without sleeping.

I was zonked out after the supper hop so ponned this morning's sectionals for a nap. But apparantly the nap didn't really help. Skipping morning's session, training would be from 2pm to 10pm, with a short 1 hour dinner break today. By the time it was 9pm, I was dozing off while the conductor was working on the other section (but woke up when I needed too!). I tried to keep myself alert by running my fingers on my fingerboard as I read the scores but my eyes just keep shutting itself when the conductor wasn't paying attention. Felt so guilty and awful. Consequences of not sleeping enough.

And I guess I don't have enough vitality to work on my project right now (even more repercussions). Off I go to sleep! =x

I've proudly finished and handed in my first individual project this morning! Did it at the benches at hall 12 with Sherly and Yewhang (they had their's to do as well) from 1.30pm yesterday to 4.30pm, then we continued from 8pm where Chek Lee joined us and we slogged all the way to 6am in the morning. Hahaha we are all so last minute workers!

Many came over to help, Alson suggested brillant ideas for touch-up, Benedict helped me tie strings to 1/4 of my scaffold while I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms for isolating myself for too long, Eric wound beige strings on metal wires for my flower petals and Wenhao gave moral support. Sherly had her reinforcement came to help her too.

Actually it's pretty fun rushing for project but it's very tiring. I guess I wouldn't have survived the night without all the help and company. Weee! Thanks everyone! :D

I just love meeting my friends, saying hi and talking to all of them. It makes me very happy :):). And I think my lecturers are really cool and funny wahahah. Maybe they are not that cool and funny but because lecturers are always thought to be banal, so little jokes and tricks they show changes other's impression of them a whole lot.

Sunday, August 05, 2007

I'm feeling really down now. Yesterday was my last day at work and today I had my last violin lesson with Mr Wong and Shufang.

Work first. Although it had been only a month plus or so working in Brewerkz, I've grown attached to the place already. Everyone is so nice. Being a newbie in F&B, they didn't mind my blurness and lack of knowledge. Instead, they had all been patient especially to my incessant questioning on all sorts of matters like you know really all. Like what condiments should I put on the table? Where the labels should be facing? When am I getting my locker? How to do cash out? Why we need to wipe the seats in the morning and not at night?

Although there are bad times at work and weird behaviours from colleagues, but afterall, it's an experience. An experience that we need to see for ourselves to know about them and then learn from it. Rewarding and fufiling work experience I would say.

And today... last violin lesson. It was difficult to make such a decision back then. Today's departure had thrown me bouts of sadness. I've been taking lessons every Sunday since exactly 3 and a half years ago. I have the habit of waking up early every Sunday morning, lugging my violin and scores to Woodlands, meet Shufang, the bosses, receptionists and then the teacher. Quiting violin now is like quiting a habit. I'm very hesistant to do it. Especially right now, when I just got to learn the essence of violin. I have better understanding of music and would appreciate it better and has liked it even more. I want to learn more but no. No more that sort of opportunity. Big boos. On the other hand, quiting it is like finishing secondary school. People, I'm sure you know how much I hate to leave my secondary school and I felt the same kind of reluctance.

Whatever it is, I shall embrace the change. It's supposedly to help me prepare for a new year ahead in school. So I guess my decisions although painful, it would be a great decision :).

The 5 facts known these 3 days to re-affirm that the world is really small:

1. Jasmine (a colleague of mine who happens to be from PJ and NTU) brought 3 of her friends to Brewerkz 2 days ago. I was serving their table and realised that one of Shawn Goh's female classmate and my Spanish classmate are her friends too.

2. I saw my ex-colleague Adel from GE Money in today's Citychase. She's a participant.

3. Wenhui's church friend will be my freshie this orientation.

4. My ex-colleague Lilian, from GE Money too has a younger sister who was also from PJ. She told me her younger sister knows Wenhao very well. When I asked Wenhao, it turns out that her younger sister was his ex-girlfriend.

5. One of my fellow GL has a twin sister who is my colleague in Brewerkz.

**

Okay I know I'm supposed to be camping now, but we can book out today (but must book in tmr) and that explains why I'm here :D.

Anyway, today's camp event was to help out in this City Chase (http://www.citychase.com/country.asp?evt=singapore) thing that lasted about 11 hours (for marshalls). I was stationed at Kent Ridge Park, one of the checkpoints in this race.

Participants had to complete a jungle trail and a bicycle trail to earn their stamp in this checkpoint. The jungle trail was confusing and tedious especially when you have to run through it. Throughout the time at the checkpoint, we had to walk through the jungle a few times to change shift. There was once I walked alone through the jungle, I was totally lost. I was damn scared and got Edwin and Jon to come and find me. But I managed to back track and found Jon.

Best of all, there were no toilets near the trails, so we had to relieve ourself in the open but anyway, I didn't. I tahan all the way till I'm back to Pan Pac wahahaha.

Although tiring, we had fun crapping with the participants and we saw celebrities which we couldn't recognise as they look very chui because of the race.

After the thing and in addition to yesterday's orientation run through (major games only), I feel so nuah now. Seems like orientation more tiring than working hahaha.

My OG has contacted all our freshies already. Weeee so excited! Can't wait to meet them on Monday :D:D.

Friday, July 13, 2007

I had a really bad evening at work today. I was at the greeter stand before lunch. At the greeter stand we must know the various Brewerkz mechandise, answer phone calls, greet the customers, and use the walkie talkie to communicate with the supervisors and managers to help the customers look for seats.

After that, I was deploy to the dining room and everything was alright till the evening. I took 6 tables alone and it I felt that I didn't do a good job. The supervisor was always on the look out on me and she was always pointing out all the mistakes I've made right after I had made them. Actually, I was fully aware of the mistake, but always after she spotted it but I had no chance to redeem myself because she's always too quick to tell me. It made me felt like as though I was very incompetent and that upset me alot.

The way I made mistakes was like a domino effect. It led to so many other tiny mistakes and even PRs (items keyed in wrongly or on the house it's not a good thing anyway 1/2 of the PRs was some one elses' fault, but don't know why accounted to me). With every mistake I made, I became even more conscious and even more stressed up that I kept feeling that I'm underperforming and incompetent. Plus I wasn't getting any tips for the day on my own (had a 17.60 tipping from a table in the afternoon but to be shared by 3). And I almost spilled things on the customers a few times. 1/2 hour before I was going to end my shift, the supervisor talked to me and asked me how do I think I fared, which of course, I gave her the above domino effect evaluation. As I said those things to her, I cannot help it and just cried as I said.

I cried so badly that I had to excuse myself for a while before I finish up my job. After I was back, 2 tables had to do billing and I've got a 22 bucks tips from them. It was really a heartening encouragement for a day like that, but I felt really bad at the same time because it wasn't entirely what I deserve.

But anyway, I still like my job. I think it helps to shape my personality and character as well. I guess I should start accepting mistakes and grow stronger with every mistake I made instead of crumbling into crumbs.

Alright, enough of my bad day.

**
All my lunches this week in Brewerkz are free from the supervisors and managers :D:D. Plus tips within these 2 days as a server is 45 bucks! Mann it can almost cover my camp fees already :D:D. Should end on a happy note since this blog won't be updated within the next 10 days due to a camp. Don't want you all to read my blog and keep thinking that I'm unhappy hahaha!

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

My first day as a server today! For the past two weeks, I had been a runner, where I take food from the service bar and serve it to the customers and doing miscellaneous stuffs like making ice tea, cutting lemons and folding napkins and learning important ingredients in the food and we have minimal interaction with the customers unlike a server. So it's kinda a promotion since we have more responsibilities over what we serve and tell the customers, the money and the possibilities of collecting tips :D:D.

Anyway, it was quite stressful for me. The supervisor today was the fiercest and strictest among all. 2 days ago, a colleague of mine had his first day as a server too and had him as his supervisor. He was badly scolded in the dining area for not placing coasters on the tables after taking orders (it's a rule). That was why I was so scared. I didn't want to kena from him. Plus I was left alone without my mentor after 2 hours. Double stress.

Quite a few glitches here and there. Forgot coasters many times(but my supervisor didn't find out thanks to my mentor), bowls, settings, checked back to early, worried about filling the ice water too many times that they find me irritating (all of them drank so quickly!) and I kept banging into the pillar coz I was too swift and I always didn't notice it. And I've got a really fussy customer who rejected her salad because she thinks that the chicken is not grilled but seasoned but it was peacefully settled and she still winked at me during billing.

I've got no tips at all today coz throughout the 5 hours being a server, all of the tables I attended to paid by credit cards :(. But it doesn't matter anyway, I'm still happy being a waitress without it. I was very shocked today that my supervisor told me I could go already. Go home he meant because I've finished my shift. See I enjoy my job so much that I didn't know time passes so quickly. Thus far, I'm enjoying every bit of waitressing :). It's like an interest to be a waitress hahaha. Hopefully nothing would change that perception of mine.

Yesterday, I handed in my termination form to the music school. The moment it reaches the receptionist hand, I felt my heart pinching away a part of it to retrieve the form. Obviously I didn't follow my heart to make this upsetting decision. It was a decision made after rounds and rounds of evaluation and weighing the consequences, to accomodate the situation I'm in. Boo. It's over. Anyway I should be taking the exams as a private candidate without the school.

I'm deadmeat now.. I only placed 2 electives on my waitlist when I need 3 to increase my chances of getting it. I missed the timing! I thought I could do it tomorrow! Arghhhh. I don't want to chiong electives in later semesters :(.

Great! My intestines have stopped behaving like a water pipe today. Probably because I survived on glucose water the whole of yesterday that's why there's nothing to flush. But then I'm really glad that I'm fine coz tomorrow would be a super busy day. Mannn Clarke Quay on a Friday.. can't imagine.

So far, work has been really fun and enjoyable although it's very tough and a little stressful. During peak hours, nobody gets to stop and rest without implicating others to work harder. And even during slack hours, we must look for work to do and try to prepare stuffs for 'rainy' days.

Everyday, as and when, the supervisors and manager would ask us what are the names of the dishes, the ingredients, why the sauce is of that certain colour, where is this table (the restaurant is a 500 seater for you info) etc. There was once this customer asked me about Brewerkz's beer and then one of the supervisor saw it. After I was done, the supervisor stopped me to ask what the customer ask and used the same questions on me. Thankfully I got them all right (luckily I paid attention during the orientation).

It's very challenging and I simply love it. Even Jeremy and Zhihan starts share the same sentiments. Everyone is so optimistic, friendly and helpful and the management is so organised and the work environment is so welfare-oriented. Jeremy got a free dinner at the restaurant today because he decided to work an extra 4 hours.

Anyway, got to rest already. Hope that my typhim vaccination injected arm will not swell tomorrow lest I can't carry trays and plates.

Beautiful Saturday.

Really beautiful although it didn't start off beautifully. I couldn't find my way to YMS auditorium. I was walking up and down one particular street and was already very near the place but never near enough to pass by or to even see it. Imagine walking under the scorching 12pm sun for more than 20 minutes in black long sleeve shirt, black pants and black court shoes, really can die. Plus my court shoes gave way when my president came to find me but thankfully, someone's shoe gave way too so he had superglue with him which he lended me for my buy-and-throw-away shoe.

I'm very happy today though I felt that my performance wasn't fantastic that I will retire (if I really need to) with no regrets and people I really wish they were here wasn't here. Anyway, I must blog now so I can give thanks and better remember this Saturday for there isn't many such Saturdays or even such days :).

Firstly, for Shufang. She came alone just to watch the concert although she heard most pieces before. Plus she helped me with my vivaldi piece. Need I say more? A great friend indeed! :D

Secondly, Yvonne and Gerald Law. Gerald Law. I was really surprised that he agreed to come without any hesitation and stayed through the whole 2 hr plus despite it wasn't a really perfect concert and he did regret alittle for agreeing to come hahaha! And Yvonne, thanks for taking time off from your busy back to sg schedule for me :). Other than happy, I'm really happy :D.

Third, for my father. I wish that my mummy would be there too, but I am glad enough to see him (and my I still love my mummy because she made lunch for me and iron my clothes for the concert). Throughout my involvement in a performing arts groups for 15 years (yes 15, kindergarden until now) from a dancer to a choristor and then a violinist, he had never been to any of my invited performance, and my mummy only twice one 15 years ago, another one 10 years ago, both of which happened after I pleaded them to go every single day until she decided to go. Okay maybe performances last time wasn't big and 'worthwhile' enough.

During rehearsals, I saw the kids' parents both father and mother present and I really envied them. But anyway, this time, my father came, he stayed even with his nose allergy and waited for me to bring my violin home even though he needed to attend to something else after that. Suddenly I felt so loved and all that he missed had not been missed. And I didn't quite envy the kids today wahahaha.

And then, these four people, Zhihan, Wenhao, Lionel and Louis, who never fail to give me pleasant surprises. Long story for this. Zhihan and Wenhao told me last week that they couldn't make it- like seriously couldn't make it when I got them to buy my tickets. Then Zhihan told me she will 'ta' one of the ticket and Wenhao told me the same thing. I refuse to let them 'ta' coz it's really unfair for them. Then Zhihan didn't take the tickets in the end but Wenhao told me he needed 3 for his younger girl friends coz they wanted to go. I didn't want to sell it to him coz I was afraid he will 'ta' 3 tickets instead but he told me he's not crazy enough to do that but then again, he could be nice enough to do that hahaha and Zhihan assured me that he won't. So okay I sold him the tickets. In the end, who came? Zhihan, Lionel and Louis! They came with a bouquet of a dozen of yellow daisies wrapped in dark green paper (wrapper that I like somemore!)!

Throughout this week, I had been hanging out with Zhihan pretty frequently coz of interview, shopping and shopping hahaha. When we were outside she asked me random questions which I thought it was really random coz I was telling her random stuffs too. She asked things like, "eh you like daisies right?" and "why you like yellow (one of my favourite coloured daisies :D) daisies?" I even went to buy the wrapper with her and she let me chose the colour which I never thought it was for me. So now everything makes sense and it wasn't random after all. They left after they found me during the intermission, just for the flowers, the photo, and the support coz all were busy with something else (Wenhao really couldn't make it because of diving). Mann I'm really heartened and felt so elated that I was less nervous for my next few pieces.

For those who couldn't come but gave me their well-wishes and had really wanted to come, thank you and I love all of u too :D:D. Van, I smiled to your text but I'm sorry, couldn't reply then. If there's a next time, all must come wor!

I feel so blessed. Right now I'm so dizzy with happiness because of every little thing that all of you had done for me. Many little things add together become a really big thing wahahah. :D:D

Today is the day. The day of my first concert and maybe the last. Not a big scale concert though, it's kinda like a family concert. The real concert is in Sep but I'm not sure if I can/want to survive in orchestra together with study and work till then.

I have this teeny weeny solo part for a movement of a concerto. I must not play out of tune or do something wrong on stage during it. And I hope I won't screw up as a front desk player wahahaha.

Yea... wish me all the best :).

I went to Waterloo Street to buy my bow with shufang today and it was a super heart pain event. I must say my will was damn weak then, my heart pain was not enough to resist the temptation. Anyway, my budget was only 100 bucks, and maybe slightly less than 200 and that's the most I would go coz I also needed to zeng my violin with the money my father gave.

The person first took out a 3600 bucks bow and I was damn shocked. She took out a few more of that range and I had no choice to ask her for cheaper, beginner bow. So she took out a few 200 bucks bow and I tried playing with it and it was so-so so I asked for those of a slightly higher range bow to see if there are any difference and for the fun of it. Higher range bows are indeed higher range bow. The difference in feel is significant. The weight, the balance, the material. It really does makes your hand feel like flying.

I started contemplating between one of the better 200 bucks bow or the higher range one. She told me that the higher range bows are for technically more demanding pieces, like those I would be playing for exams (she's also a violin teacher and she knows most of my instructors!). Shufang also tested the bow for me and it was worth it. Best of all, the ladyboss offered to allow me to pay by instalment if I wasn't prepared to pay for a more than 200 bucks bow.

Okay! The higher range bow I've decided. So anyway, already buying those range liao, I got her to take out more of such similar range to take a look and of course to make sure that it wasn't because the bow is expensive that's why I think it's good, but to truly compare the worth and appreciate it. I dare not get her get an even higher range bow lest I'm being cloudy by it's superiority again. Yea the bow was being appreciated and had proven it's worth so, I bought the bow at 400 bucks. She gave me a 50 bucks discount. 4 times more than my budget. How smart am I. Boo.

Anyway, plus 20 bucks for zeng-ing the tailpiece. It's good enough to improve the sound. Sound post, bridge can wait. Strings.... well we shall see. It cost 420 in total, but I'm paying 200 by instalment.

I really need a well-paid job badly mannn.

Alright special sem is over. I don't want it to be over! It was really enjoyable.

Now that it's over, I need to start finding a part-time job if not I have no money!!! And I have to practising like crazy for my concert and to prepare to expect more orientation camp canvassings and meeting and of course, planning my next sem's timetable.

Planning the timetable is no easy feat. I hope I can have all my tutorials on Mondays and Tuesdays while lectures, lab and electives on any other days I don't mind. Spent like 4 hours planning it but still can't make it the way I want. In the end, I had like tutorials on mon, tues, fri and I can't fit my electives inside my timetable. Still need to register them and there's a possiblity of the registration being unsuccessful and I will have to plan all over again. If I can't register them, I'm going to burn down their office. RAhhh it's driving me crazy.

10/6/2007, at approximately 10.25am, while I was playing my violin in the orchestra, unexpectedly, I felt something brushed down my left cheek and I saw with the corner of my eye, white powder and some blurry yellow stuff falling. All my bow hair dropped. Now I pronouce the end of service of my beloved bow that had served me for a good 18 months.

Yea that's it. New bow is a neccessity now.

Anyway, took my last sem's results on Friday. Under expectation but I improved over the sem. Good results for half of all the modules I took and so so results for the other half. Quite satisfied actually :).

Guess what I made in the morning?! Ondeh ondeh! Wahahaha

For the past few days, I have been craving for malay kueh especially ondeh ondeh until I buay tahan and went to make my own ondeh ondeh.

It was my first try. Got the recipe from the internet last night. I sifted the flour, mashed the sweet potatoes, mixed them together with the pandan juice my mummy helped me to squeeze in the morning and 2 1/2 tbsp water and tried to knead them into a dough. BUT! It didn't turn into a dough! I kept kneading and it turned into crumbs instead- sand size crumbs. I was damn disappointed. I really didn't know why, until mummy came into the kitchen and told me that it's because I didn't add enough water~. Wahahaha damn dumb right. But seriously, the recipe didn't indicate lah. It says 2 1/2 tbsp of water in the ingredients but it didn't specify where I shld add them! In the end, I added like 2 cups of water then it turned out something decent. The recipe is so lousy!

Anyway, after that, cut the gula melaka and started to make small balls out of the dough to fill the sugar into it and brought it to boil and then rolled it over the coconut and voila! My ondeh ondehs are ready! :D

Truth be told, the ondehs are not very fantastic la. It's 100% visually acceptable and it still taste like ondeh, just that the skin is a little thick and could be more chewy and that my gula melaka are not finely chopped thus it doesn't really melt. But for first timer plus lousy recipe, I think it's not bad already. And I'm very happy :D . Everyone, please stay tune for my ondehs. Once I've perfected it (or at least I think it's presentable), ondehs for everyone hahaha! :D

Weeee! These are my spanish class classmates :). Yesterday was our last lesson and we had our oral exam and I think it was quite well done. In fact I think everyone did well. The oral is conversational style in front of the class with your partner. All of our oral scripts turned out to be some kind of a comedy. Everyone injected some form of jokes, intended and not intended into the conversation. The whole class had a good laugh that day :D.
Mann I think I will miss spanish class. Thus far, it's the only tutorial that I've enjoyed the most during my study in uni. It was not at all stressful and the lesson was so enjoyable that each 3 hours lesson seems like 30mins only. And best of all, I have wonderful classmates! Everyone is so friendly and crazy that we talk nonsense almost every lesson hahaha. We are so enthu that everyone agreed to go for class gathering next week right after exam. Even our tutor changed her schedule for us :D:D. Arghh I don't want spanish to end!!!

Proudly presenting to you, Un año más!

This is a spanish song our spanish tutor introduced to us during the previous lesson. It's a song that spanish would listen to during New Year Eve.

During New Year Eve, people would gather at this place called Puerta del Sol, which means Door of the Son. They will have some kind of celebration before 12am. Everyone would be dressed up in costume for the occasion in bright colours and costumes. And you have to prepare grapes for the night. Then at 12, the clock will strike 12 times. Before every stroke of the chime, you have to make a wish with your grape and pop it into your mouth on the stroke. So that night, you will pop 12 grapes which symbolises properity and good luck for every month of the new year :D. That night people will pop champagnes and party all night to celebrate the new year and wait for the sun to rise. Interesting isn't it?

Here's the lyrics :).

Marineros, soldados, solteros, casados,
amantes, andantes y alguno que otro
cura despistao.

1, 2, 3 y 4 y empieza otra vez
que la quinta es la una
y la sexta es la dos y así el siete es tres.

Y decimos adiós y pedimos a Dios
que en el año que viene,
a ver si en vez de un millón
pueden ser dos.

En la Puerta del Sol
como el año que fue
otra vez el champagne y las uvas
y el alquitrán, de alfombra están.

Hahaha Zhihan, Wenhao and I simply love this song lol!

Boon Bee at 6/05/2007 11:38:00 PM :: link

Went suntanning with Zhihan today. I must say again, I'm the biggest contraction of the century okay to much. Maybe for the year. For the first 1.5 hour, I put on sun block to sun tan because I didn't want to get too dark. Then 1/2 hour before we leave, I decided to put on tanning oil coz it smells quite good hahaha. Anyway, it's super relaxing to sleep by the beach.

After tanning, we went to Golden Shoe Market for food. Man!!! My favourite hawker centre! I was craving for the lor mee. Meatballs, slices of duck, the flat noodles, garlic, vinegar, pepper and a teeny weeny bit of chilly... Yummy! Uncle was super nice today hahaah probably he remembered me or what he gave Zhihan and me extra noodles with beehoon (which I didn't ask for it) and this super huge crispy thing which he usually won't give alot. Alot as in to my satisfaction because I love that and I always wanted more hahaha. Okay, I'm thinking too much hahaha maybe he was going to rest for the day already. But anyway, I love that place! Had chendol after lor mee and I found this long lost tom yam fish soup Peiwen and I used to love (and still love) at the market (apparently, it only shifted location within the hawker centre and we didn't realise)! I must eat that during these days! Anyone keen to go with me? Opening hours weekdays late morning till early afternoon.

After lunch, we took a stroll along the shophouses. We followed the stretch of shophouses and keep walking and discovered interesting buildings and places we never knew existed. Started off from Raffles then walked to Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar, back to Chinatown and then to Outram Park in LESS THAN 1 HOUR! Amazing! Every MRT station in Singapore is literally walking distance from one another.

Look, this is my slow-paced life hahaha. I shall lead a slow-paced life for the week being :). It's super rare you know, my tutee last minute cancelled tuition ytd and my practises are reduced from a weekly 21 hours to a weekly 12 hours due to a heavy budget cut for my CCA. And I just recieved an email saying that sectionals tmr are cancelled. Wahahaha rest rest rest! But still not to anticipate to soon, they might add practises for the upcoming concert this weekend and in these 3 weeks too. Not forgeting that Spanish written exam is next week and oral exam tmr! And the mo2 gui3 ban1 practise schedule will resume after holidays.

But who cares about the flipside. As long as I'm happy now :).

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Wahahaha I woke up so early in the morning! Well that was a lie. I haven't woke up so early ever since my Chemistry paper last sem. The fact is that I didn't sleep at all. You see last night, David, Js, Jq, Joey and I attempted to go clubbing at Zouk. But mann before we alight from the bus we smell people. The roads along Grand Corpthorne and Zouk are flooded with vehicles and you can hardly see the concrete pavement coz it's literally covered with people and the whole street is a very good example of a fluid mosiac model. And yea needless to say, Zouk is damn crowded. We gave up waiting in the queue and decided to head down to a pub called Highlanders in Clarke Quay.

So much for clubbing on the eve of a public holiday. Actually, I don't really like clubbing. Alright fine for those who insist that I'm a chao clubber, I did like clubbing for a short period of time and had the urge to club once in a while but that was a really short period. After that I felt that clubbing is really not my thing. I didn't really enjoy the queuing, the brushing of sweaty arms against sweaty arms with people you don't know, the smoke that stink the hair which seems to stuck on it forever, the make-up removing, contact lens removing and bathing, after the tiring night before I can sleep. Very sian.

The part I like about clubbing is unwinding and people watching. But I prefer unwinding once in a while and watching people when I'm not involved coz I can't really multi-task very well hahaha.

Anyway, I would rather go pubbing although there might still be the smoke but I'm fine with that. Minus your own sweat which won't make the smoke stay as much and other people's sweat. Plus there are nice music such as jazz, rock and acoustic which I find that I enjoy very much :). At the same time, you can have a heart-to-heart talk about life, reflections of our past, the future, the present etc.. with your really close buddies or even people whom you won't feel oppressed at all when sharing your deepest, darkest and most wrong feelings. Of course needless to say crazy card games and dares are fun things to do during such casual atmosphere.

Yes I think I sure do like to live a laid-back life and maybe with a tinge of excitement here and there. We were talking about our past time in spanish class yesterday. I brainstormed through what I like to do, I find that most of my past time are indeed laid-back. I like to try every new things too but unfortunately, new things always need money and time. In fact all my favourite past time need lots of $$ and time. Like watching musicals, pubbing, travelling, shopping, eating good food (hawker food counted but the travelling to those ulu places for it needs $$)... and I would love to pick up some sea-sports but mann no company, no lobang, no time, no money! That's why I can hardly do all my favourite things. The few cheapo things that I like to do that doesn't require $$ are like strolling at some nice place or lie under the sun on a beach, leisure beach volleyball game with appropriate weather and great company. Best is with boyfriend hahaha! Okay kidding la heart-to-heart friends will be suffice lol. Unfortunately, always, the weather isn't the weather I want when I want and hardly anyone likes to do those things.

Aiyahh enough of my crap I guess my hair is almost dry and I better sleep now lest I can't wake up in time for my oral exam preparation.

Mannn I didn't know "Hips don't lie" by Shakira has spanish content!

If you listen carefully, you will hear
"...Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa......
.....
Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de dia......
......
Señorita..
Mira en Barranquilla se baila asi......"
and in the background you will occassionally hear "si... si.. si"

Woohoo damn cool! Hahaha! Anyway, it means
"... What is your name, pretty, my house, your house....
.....
Dance in the street at night
Dance in the street in the morning....
.......
Young lady...
Look in Barranquilla is dancing...."

Not sure about the last sentence but woohoo! I like the song :D

Very busy Fridays and weekends these 2 weeks.

Last Friday, attended Lionel's 24th birthday party at Zhihan and John's room in hall 15 and Siao Chien's 20th birthday party at Lifeng's place. Then Saturday morning orchestra practise till late afternoon and then first 3 months 05A03 (Marlowe) gathering and then Siao Chien's post birthday celebration at Clarke Quay with S01 ppl. Sunday morning was violin lesson and then cooking at Jiaqi's house.

And this week, Zhihan's post birthday party/steamboat cum overnight mahjong at Zhihan and John's hall. Supposed to have orchestra, but ponned coz the overnight mahjong session lasted till late morning. In fact it lasted for 12 hours. Basically, I had my Saturday free for catching up lost sleep. Tomorrow, shall be violin lesson and tanning at Sentosa.

Last night's mahjong session, we played two rounds of mahjong in 12 hours and guess what??? I almost won a game with shi san yao! The set of tiles I had had 10 out of 13 tiles of the shi san yao combination which is exceptionally rare! Managed to change the other 3 tiles before the other players are even close to their winning combination. Apparently all of them were panicking as I update my shi san yao status coz winning shi san yao is really a lot of money. I was sure to get the complete combination coz no one would want to keep the tile I need to win. While waiting for my last tile, Wenhao threw a tile that happened to be Daniel's winning tile and Daniel spoilt my shi san yao streak! Arghhh! I was really damn close to my shi san yao conquest coz my winning tile was inside the block of tiles I was supposed to take shortly! Man you can imagine how upset I was then. Anyway, it was an experience. Not everyone has the chance to even form close to the shi san yao winning combination despite playing mahjong for so long. I was still happy coz as an amatuer, I did it! :D

Lastly in my post, I have a confession to make. I told a big lie today. I lied to my section leader that I had diarrhea this morning and I couldn't make it to practise but in fact, I was very tired and I'm sure I can't concentrate after last night's mahjong marathon, which wouldn't be very helpful if I were to attend and that at then, we had not finish our marathon =x. I felt damn bad for lying but that's the only way to give a seemingly valid reason to skip the session. There were other reasons for the lie and reluctance to attend the session too but shall not elaborate. Yes excuses but... aiyahh. But unfortunately and yet thankfully, I did have a diarrhea after I went home so even if attended, I will still be sick and needed to rush home. In a way, I felt a little better =x.

I'm very happy today that I've found my bow fund :D.

Yes I need a bow fund coz I broke the tip of my bow since don't know when. That causes my bow to bend awfully. I had only found out about it not too long ago. My 4 days part time job pay shall wholly go to my bow. 4 days part time job pay- that's roughly how much a decent bow cost and maybe I would have a little extra to buy half of a violin casing. Sighh I need to change my casing... and my strings too... already producing impure sound and I need money for a pair havaianas slippers, for spanish dictionary for..... Booooo! MONEY!!! I NEED YOU!

I'm very upset recently. So are my friends. Although we can't really solve each other's problems, I feel the comfort when we are there to accompany each other physically and mentally with minimal expectations of each other. Am I right? :) At least it is so for me. I must say, I love all of you!

The phaaaaaantom of the opera is here!!

Man.. it was a breath-taking opera. Didn't regret spending the money. The only regret I have is that I didn't manage to witness my TO conductor and violin 2 instructor playing during the performance and that we bought only the category C and not the category A tickets. I wouldn't have mind spending the money, but anyway if it wasn't the category C tickets and weiyong, I would not have went to watch it.

Vanessa and I nearly dropped the idea of watching it because it was alittle off budget but thankfully, weiyong had a pair of tickets that he doesn't want and sold it to us at a cheaper price! :):):)

After the concert, van and I went into a phantom frenzy. We spent a hundred plus dollars altogether buying their souvenirs and that only until now, I realised that the CD we bought wasn't quite worth it hahaha.

Alright consiguió para ir. Need to do my español deberes for mañana's leccion cuatro.
(mannn that was so spanglish. anyway, it says "Alright got to go. Need to do my spanish homework for tomorrow's lesson 4." :))

*(Edits to my spanglish phrase: Bien, obtuvo para ir. Necesita hacer mi deberes españoles para la lección del mañana cuatro.)

Hola! I'm back from M'sia! Actually was already back 2 nights ago but was just too tired to blog about my trip. Now that I'm not tired plus I've got most of the photos, I shall share my photos and experience right here right now hahaha.

2/5/2007
Day 1
These are the people who went for the M'sia trip plus the photographer Lionel. All of us gathered at Boon Lay Shopping Centre before we set off at 9.30pm. Reached First World Hotel at 3.30am.

3/5/2007 Day 2

Wahahah theme park day. The scariest day of my trip coz I took the scariest ride (in my opinion) in Genting not on my own accord. It was a roller coaster ride with double loop. Double loop kayy! The last time I took an amusement ride is because I was persuaded. Now I was carried into the queue. Damn embarassing. I really really don't want to take that ride but I couldn't escape. It was all fenced up and I was surrounded by my og.
The fear was all written on my face. Siying didn't want to take the ride too but because she saw the Indian aunties who had the same go-kart race with us was already lining up in front of us she decided that she should be able to take it. Yea was trapped so I took the ride. For the whole of it, I closed my eyes and covered it with my right hand while I held Zhihan's hand close to my mouth with my left. I was so scared that I didn't even realise that I was kinda biting her hands during the ride.Hahaha after the ride, happy but my heart was still trying to keep itself calm. It was really an experience. Anyway, that day we took the pirate ship, miscellaneous spinning rides, indoor and outdoor coaster rides and whatever u name it. I'm immuned to most pasar malam rides now... I think.

Anyway, that night, the guys gambled in the casino while the girls chilled in the room and very luckily, all of them won money except for Wenhao. All of them won so much at one table that they had to always change dealer and eventually, they had to close the table.

4/5/2007 Day 3
Woke up at like 10am coz we played bridge and talked all the way until 5-6am after the guys came back from their triumph. Checked out at 1130 and we set off to Sunway Lagoon.

When we reached the hotel, we were all damn fascinated by the hotel room. It was so so so much larger than the one at Genting with wardrobe, sofa, bathtub, plasma tv, fridge with good view some more. The girls were so excited that we ran into the guy's room to exclaim after we quickly surveyed the room and in the end, the guest next to the guys room came over to complain after we left their room. Can't blame man.. Genting's room was really bad.

Apart from the slides and water games at Sunway, we went to take coaster rides again! Hahaha the rationale is to train me to be yaya when I take coaster rides after the trip.

Coz we only reached sunway at 3pm, while the lagoon closes at 6, we didn't swim alot but we managed to visit and have fun at the main attractions of the lagoon and took many photos

Had dinner after that before we took at cab to KL's Chinatown and guess who we saw? Michelle Chia and Shawn Chen! Wahahah what a small world. I supposed they are dating there hahaha.

Chinatown is a street full of fakes and you can bargain like how you do in Thailand. Edwin is damn pro at bargaining. One of his coup was to help 3 others who wanted to buy sunglasses get a more than half-price discount plus free spectacle cloths given by the uncle on his own accord. The thing about chinatown is that all the sellers sometimes treat us all like idiots. Overpriced their fakes, attempt to make us pay for just looking (I kena that with zhihan after we wandered away from the main group but we just gave the man the ridiculous look and walked away. Luckily never catch up with us) or even try to convince us that they are the only stall selling their stuffs at the cheapest price. Of course we weren't that stupid to believe la. Hahaha all of us swept the place in less than two hours and these are the harvest at the best price possible.Hahaah yea your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. I didn't buy anything at all although everyone thought that I would be the biggest shopper there but it turns out that all the guys are the ultimate shoppers lol!

Back to the hotel at 12am. It was really a long a tiring day but it's the last night! How can we waste such a wonderful night without having enough entertainment? So in the end, we bought beer to the hotel, played all sorts of finger guessing games, orientation games all the way until 3am when people started to concuss. In the end, those games became intensive games of bridge all the way till 6am then we chiong for the breakfast buffet hahaha!

5/5/2007 Day 4

These were the last men standing including Lionel after the no-sleep night. We had 3 other concussed in the room. Hahaha all of us looked very happy in the picture. Yes indeed all of us are happy imagine for the past 6 hours we had been laughing non-stop, how can we not be happy? Laughing and bridge. That's what kept us awake.

Had the hotel's buffet breakfast. Mannn it was marvellous!! Like the best meal of the trip apart from the ba kut teh the night before. If you think that the stretch of food is just what you see in the photo, you are so wrong! This is just half of the spread! They had a whole stretch of food from teochew porridge to nasi lemak to economic beehoon or noodle with the all kind of side dish you would have with to western breakfast with different sort of bacon, egg, ham, bread, salad, cereal and they even had french confectionaries and miso soup with kimchi! There are just too many kinds of food to name it all here. Although we were very very tired, the sight of those food just makes us want to stay there. We just don't mind sacrificing our sleep.

Despite of the temptation of the good food, we went back to sleep at 7.30am coz it's only logical to do so. Woke up at 11am for our last round of shopping until 3pm when we waited for our coach. Our coach broke down halfway here so we had quite some time to kill so we started to play our finger guessing game and I lost quite badly, 2nd to louis and mann.. our forfeit was to chew a packets of gums everytime we lose and the stake is doubled if you lose 3 times in a row. I kena-ed 9 packs of gums and louis 13 packs.

Reached home at 9 plus pm at night that day.

It was really a good break after all the stifling examination. Had so much fun with my orientation group and Hanlun (Lionel's best friend who joined us for the trip). With that I'm even more looking forward for my coming orientation camp this July even though I might face the possibilities of them sharing with the coming freshies all my embarassment in M'sia. Hahaha!

Sheesh. Just realised I would most likely have to take the amusement rides in Genting because that's usually what you can only do there right? BUT! I fear these rides! Boohoo I'm not brave enough lahhh. I can't even handle Uncle Ringo's ride (recalls the one and only time I took the ride after choir in J2 outside Lot1...). So embarassing :(

Was tagged by sawhoon many many days ago but I was afraid of the negative repercussions I will get for delibrately using my brain bytes for something else for too long other than studying so here's only my respond now :D.

Rule of the game: each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own 10 weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

1) I enjoy looking at the construction site especially with the construction workers at work. Ehh before you all think that I have an uncanny fetish for construction workers, I must clarify that that's not true! I'm just fascinated at how these small size people as compared to the gigantic building are able to build such a huge sturdy structure. Amazing isn't it? Mann.. maybe I should change my course to civil engineering.

2) I find physics related educators are interesting people.

3) Martin Yan and Fang tai's cooking show were some of my favorite TV shows when I was in primary school.

4) Last Sunday, I discovered that I enjoy watching animal planet kind of show (it was on channelU then). Perhaps the animal world had always appeal to me since I was young but only to realise it now hahaha. And probably that's why I worried more for the psychological well-being of the snake rather empathizing sawhoon's state of shock when she told me she almost attempted to ram over the snake at Ubin, but fortunately she managed stop centimetres before the snake. Phew~! Lucky snake!

5) I always capture golden beetles and those big flying bugs in a clear container whenever they enter my room. Primarily because no one is willing to kill them for me in the middle of the night and I'm afraid that they would crawl on me when I sleep and I dare not destroy them (they are rather fat and probably juicy) and secondarily, they serve as my study companion hahaha. I will observe their state of frantic while being trap whenever I get bored with my books. Anyway, just to let you know, my mum will throw it away the next morning.
(P.S. I'm an animal friendly person but definitely not an insect friendly person hahaha)

6) I'm a bridge fanatic. But I'm lousy at it hahaha. Anyway, holidays... bridge or two-man-bridge anyone??

7) I always go home after school even if I have a meeting, cca or lecture 3 hours later. I will go back to school just in time.

8) I name the cows I have at home. I have 2. One named Lulu another Mary.

9) I always shit at night rather than in the day.

10) I think I like going to lectures alone so I will feel excited going alone but sometimes when I stepped into the lecture theatre, I felt lost and wished that my friends were with me.

Alright 10 little known facts that's it and now, the 6 people are... Peiwen, Shawn Goh, Juat, Jazreel, Johnson and Janna.

HOOOOORAAAAAYY!!! I had my last paper this morning and it was great :)! But it was quite unfortunate that no one shared this joy of release from my isolation and the extensively monstrous insane mugging for the past 22 days with me. Van, jq, marcus are in Genting, sh still having her exams, my jc friends are still having their exams too. In fact most are still having their exams. My tutorial mates... ahhh... weird. That's all I could say. Otherwise, some would be working, like eve. Well, at least I had lunch with her at Vivo city before I escotted her back to Sentosa hahaha. Yea indeed, I'm too free. Walked around Vivo for a while then took the longest route to cck. Went to the library, walked around, then I decided that I'm too tired then I took the bus, looped cck before I alighted and went home to sleep.

For a moment I felt very lonely. I hate this sort of lonely moments but yet I'm afraid to ask for company. Boohoo. Don't like rejections.

Anyway, end of examinations. Shouldn't sound depressed ahahaha. Alright I should start thinking of what to write for my "10 weird things little known to others" :)

Boon Bee is very tired today. She had went through one of the most challenging exam days where she had to battle two opponents one in the morning, after a miserable 3 hours sleep last night due to insomnia and one in the evening.

Thankfully, all went well and hopefully wellness would show in her results :D.

Now Boon Bee needs to rest.

I had only studied for 4 hours today! Panick!

Went Rocky's Pizza for dinner with them.

The pizza was sinfully yummy. Cam whored abit after dinner and not long after, I was hungry again. So we went to this shop Sunnychoice for oreo cheesecake and icecream. Hahaha fret not that's not so sinful because it's organic :D.

This morning when I woke up, I found a 6cm and a 2cm incision on the back of my right upper calf. The 6cm one slanted from right down and right next to it is a 2cm vertical one. It's red and swollen and it still hurts. Creepy. I wonder how I got those wounds last night.

I didn't know that historically famous composers were such interesting people and that life experience is important in an orchestra.

Our conductor was telling us the importance of relationship especially in orchestra after I told him I don't have a boyfriend and that it's not a priority. He told us that many pieces were written by emotional people expressing their passionate romantic stories and that we need to be in a relationship to bring out the essence of those pieces.

Then he listed a few composers to prove his point, "Mozart, Schubert were playboys, Tschaikovsky was a gay, Beethoven was a sex maniac."

"Bach leh?" My friend asked.

"Bach has sixteen children what do you think?"

Wahahah! Maybe the reason I can't play my instrument fantastically is because I lack a partner so I can't understand the composers' music. Anyway, I think I won't understand no matter what coz I won't be a sex maniac nor have sixteen children and I can't be a gay!

I had a frightful two minutes journey home just now. Went shopping with Sawhoon after my lesson and then a little chatting session near our house before we went home. While chatting, I saw this uncle who kept starting at us while cycling across the void deck. Never mind. We continued talking. Anyway, he was out of sight in a few seconds.

12 midnight, we decided to go home. I walked quickly to my void deck and a few steps before I exactly reached my block, the same uncle cycled past me and kept staring. Wah lauu.. I was damn scared. I let him past first and he perpetually looked back. I decided that it wasn't a very good idea to let him move first. There's a possiblity that he might lay in ambush behind the walls of the lift so I tailed closely behind him, but unfortunately he still cycled into the blind corner before me and I couldn't see him at the corridor. If you had came to my house before, you should know that you can't see the lift from the corridor.

I hesistated at the corridor, whether to go ahead to the lift lobby to take the lift or not. It's almost like a dead end. I quickly called Sawhoon so that just in case something happened, at least someone know, but I couldn't get through her phone line! At the same time I peeped from outside the corridor to the lift lobby and the uncle wasn't there anymore. So I quickly walk to the lift lobby, only to realise that the uncle suddenly popped out from a corner in his bicycle, still staring at me after I entered the lift. He cycled in circles at the lift lobby while I frantically pressed the 'door close' button. Safe for the moment. Before I exited the lift, I pressed another level just in case he tries to stalk me wahahhaa.

It was really frightened. I could feel that the within of my legs are turning porous, and eventually it would just crumble beneath my hips and my heart was thumping at the rate a butterfly flutters it's wings even when I'm at my door. I could be thinking too much, but it's better to be safe then sorry right? The uncle's erratic, strange actions made me felt awkward.

Shit.. I'm going home late again tomorrow. Anyway, if I ever see him again, I would be prepared to whack him with my violin case, punch him in his sternum and pinch out the nerves beneath his arms! Wahahaha!

Report madness today!

Nope not the formal lab report madness that was given to me 3 weeks ago and to be handed in by today, but the informal lab report that we always have after each experiment, that we have to hand in at the end of the session.

Had lab today at 0830 which was to end at 1130. I was warned that the experiment that we were doing was the toughest of the 10 experiments we have this semester and usually, people couldn't finish on time. Alson and I performed the experiment. Okay leh... not very xiong managed to get the values fairly quickly.

Then, 1030, we went to do the calculations. Abit tricky for this but we struggled through half of it. 1115, someone went to check whether the equation we used for the values is correct cause we derived it on our own. It turned out that it wasn't correct (both not correct k! okay partly my fautly) Man... long calculations to be done again!

Anyway, manage to do it quite speedily too. 1145, drew the graph, calculated the percentage uncertainty and guess what? 288%! Panick! Changed the best fit line, calculated again. 78%. Close enough already given that the first try was 288%. Continued with other calculations and answering the question.

1215, 15 minutes before the end of lunchtime, everyone left the lab, leaving Alson and me still trying to answer the question. We got 5 other reports from a few who left, for reference (their percentage uncertainty at most 5% only!) and we felt that the content were in adequate although the calculations and graph seemed fine. Forget it. Handed in their reports, told the prof our problem and thankfully, he allowed us to hand in ours at 5pm.

1230, computing lecture. Still answering question, still discussing ,not listening...

1330, maths lect, ponned. Still answering, still discussing and we realised that the experiment and equation used were designed in a way that you will get large percentage uncertainty. The larger the better. So 288% should be correct! But 78% is also large enough so heck. By 1430, sort of finished the thing at least the content is there although points are not very well phrased. Bo bian also. Had to rush to tutorial and it would be almost 5 when my tutorial ends.

See... report madness. It was really a nightmare. Thankfully, Alson couldn't finish too and Sherly explained the theory to Alson and me during computing otherwise... I don't know what would happened wahahaha.

Woohoo! CNY rocks! It's a wonderful short break from all the school work and activities, with no tutorials, tests, report to worry about (since they are all over before the break and the next dateline is at least 2 weeks later :D) and no routine commitments during these days! All these makes the break a great time to have lots of fun!

Chuxi's chuxi and chuxi, meals at grandmama's and shopping and church!

Chuyi, went to visit my paternal relatives. Although I'm not quite familiar with most of them, I'm still happy to see them. Only see them once a year so yea... okay lahh I admit. It's also the handmade goodies that made me happy wahahah but this year, no hae bi hiam (shrimp rolls) at da gu's place, very disappointed. My da gu makes the nicest hae bi hiam :D. Later at night, met up with shufang, marcus, van, samuel and sawhoon for midnight movie and we had a feast in the cinema! Nachos, popcorns, fruit juice, softdrinks, mashed potato, slurpee, pineapple tarts... Very kua chang but fun!

Chuer, went to visit my maternal relatives. Lunch at grandmama's place and yea right there at grandmama's, she makes the best braised sea cucumber and this yam thingy that you cut a dough of yam and flour into slices and then stirfry and of course many other things but she didn't prepare all on that day. The yam thingy is not the teochew suan pan zi although it's similar, but in different shape. It's not easy to prepare that dish cause it takes alot of effort and experience. After lunch was mahjong at da jiu ma's house and then movie at Princess. Not Shaw, not GV, not Engwah. It's Princess, this old cinema in Bedok. Quite a cool cinema even though it's old cause you can see the film rolling across slide by slide before the movie, as it's reminding you to switch off your phone to silent mode and etc. Never see before.

Chusan, went to visit Tanks. Tanks rocks! He played the videos we took during our sec 3 and sec 4 (which was like 5 years ago), that he complied for us. We had a darn good time laughing at our nerdy old selves and of course at classic jokes and characters too. For example, at the end of the Japan exchange programme thingy, Youshen gave chase to the minibus as they drove out of the school, while waving frantically, and of course the CME skit, especially the scene of Chaohua, Johnson and Tuapuipui (law). Not forgetting folkdance session during PE. Hilarious snippets here and there like the zooming of Chaohua's big butt and tummy then which we won't get to see now, his pair dance with Michele and law guarding himself from my 'poke' which I was never guilty of doing it to anyone and blahblahblah. Yvonne, you should go watch the video if you happen to bring ur copy of the CD there!

Weeee! These few days had probably helped me control my slightly more-than-usual hair loss which I suspect that it's due to lack of sleep and alittle bit of stress. Or otherwise it could be that my hair is longer now that I keep pulling a few strands off now and then accidentally when it got stucked between the handle of my heavy bag and shoulder as I'm trying to pull it out with the bag still on my shoulder.

Wahahaha anyway, life is good with family, friends and food around!

Saturday, February 10, 2007

Wow! Another week has passed and it's gonna be week 6 next week. Quiz week! I'm going to have 4 quizzes in 3 consecutive days. Madness.

For the past few weeks in school, I have always felt very tired and unmotivated during tutorials and especially boring lectures. I was often late for lectures and slept during it as well. I even ponned physics this week. It seems like the good girl last sem has turned nonchalent about her responsiblities. Tsk tsk. Probably because I'm too preoccupied with my cca and haven't been planning my time well or probably my thoughts stray at the wrong time of the day very often these few weeks. Alright, cny resolution- stay focus! wahahhah.

Last night I had a sweet dream. Like saccharinely sweet. It was so so so pleasing. Felt so happy when I woke up but after while it was quite disappointing because you know sweet dreams are like fantasies and it won't happen in real life. When you thought of your sweet dream and back to real life, you find that comparatively, real life is bitter. Without it, I would have thought that my life is great. Perhaps deep down in my heart I'm one way or another not very contented and I'm unconscious about it. Like what this adage illustrates, "a dream is a wish your heart makes," Although I can let the discontentment go but some how I'm drawing a picture in my heart with that subconscious state of mind of mine of what is really perfect and it's now being shown to me what is called perfect in my dreams which makes me realise that I could have an even better life. If sweet dreams are especially logical, it makes things worse because it looks attainable but in actual facts, you know it can't be happening.

See sweet dreams are no good hahaha. That's why people shouldn't wish each other 'sweet dreams' with every 'good night'. If they have to wish something abt their dreams, maybe an 'amusing dreams', or even 'have an exciting nightmare', so that when you wake up and if you happened to remember, you have something to laugh at rather than lament about having an impossible but yet logical sweet dream that cannot and will never come true.

Hahaha that sounds like a whole load of crap. But anyway, this blogging session is a pleasant relief from mugging :D.

Man.. I think my blood cholestrol level and blood pressure these few days is gonna be sky high. I mean, how can it be right to have tzi char with fried this and that for dinner for 3 times in 4 days? Tsk... it's sinful to have sumptuous dinner every now and then.

I'm so sick of tzi char now..

Anyway, tzi char at Sembawang Shopping Centre, 4th storey, Taste of Thailand, must go and try it's damn nice and so worth it!!! It's the best tzi char I've tried. One of the highlight is it's fried cuttlefish, it's like the perfect fried cuttlefish. Not at all oily, light and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It's actually like calamari but it's more shiok eating that fried cuttlefish than calamari. Went with 4 other og friends and ordered 7 dishes (3 small, 3 medium, 1 large) plus rice top up and it cost us only 43 bucks! See cheap right? Hahaha eh Yvonne, when you come back I shall bring you there! By then I shouldn't be sick of tzi char anymore :).

Boo! We are not performing for the lunchtime concert this semester :(. Heard that it was quite rushy anyway my section is still not strong enough so I guess it's a right thing not to perform. But nonetheless, my next concert coming up will be in June (training orchestra) and September (main orchestra). Stay tune!

Oh did I tell you all that I've won myself a mp3 player from an astro quiz last week? Although it isn't a stylish and useful mp3 (128Mb) I can sort of use it as a thumbdrive for my computing wahahah. I can put on hold my plan for buying another thumbdrive till after recess probably.

Woohoo! Orchestra's going Italy this year! I'm eligible to go. BUT! I have no money. BOO! Wah lauuu Europe lehhh I have always dreamt of touring Europe. The trip will be subsidized, not heavily I guess but better than nothing. Plus, it's sort of an exchange program and I'm sure it's a rare opportunity. Maybe the money issue can be worked out but it will probably leave me with a worse-than-miserable sum of savings in my bank eventually (it's miserable enough now) and I would have to work my ass off during hols. Sighhh.. Money...

Btw, audition went extremely well today. (: I was glad that I wasn't nervous at all despite the lack of preparation and Dr Yeo's reputation of being very strict.

Finally, managed to meet up with 5 of my ex-colleagues for dinner today. The last time we were seen together was last July. We just sat, eat and talk. I realised everytime I'm with them, I will have an extremely good appetite. For instance, everytime we are at pizza hut, we always finish a set for 4-5 when we have 3 people only and amazingly all 3 are females! I used to eat more than I need for lunch when I was working at GE too. Like you know, after a decent lunch of let's say lor mee, I will get myself bread or brownies or desserts then maybe after that, ransack the drawer for biscuits. Hahaha 3 course lunch, but this is the extreme case la. Usually a 2 course lunch will satisfy me then. Gone are the days of eating carefreely and having nothing to do except for work and play. It was really fun to work in GE especially with all of them around (:.

I'm feeling darn pissed and irritated now. I don't know. I don't know it's because I don't know how to do my maths tutorial. Or is it because I felt bad for not going for the meet-the-mentor tea session today or is that I'm pangseh-ed for shopping this sunday after looking forward for it for the whole of this week and making sure I will be absolutely free. Or probably because I'm not prepared for the audition tomorrow (cause I just chose the song ytd) or that I still can't play the tchaikowsky movements at train-speed tempo or that sunday violin lesson will be another make-the-teacher-lose-hope-in-me session cause I didn't prepare for the lesson at all.

Thursday, January 04, 2007

Yesterday, had an uber satisfying makan trip with my og. Lionel and edwin drove the 12 of us around. Believe it or not, we ate from 1230pm to 1230am! It's almost like eating non-stop wahahaha. The whole schedule is like this:
First ba kut teh at rangoon road, wanton mee and char kuay tiao at old airport road, tauhuay from geylang (rochor tauhuey to be specific. not from you tiao da wang) eaten at a dog farm near tampines ikea. Rest. Visited the dog farm, then dim sum at geylang lor 27 (if i didn't remember wrongly), frog leg porridge at geylang lor 9, desserts at liang seah street. Went to hamon's house, then finally our last stop, prata at upp thomson.

Always love to try something like this. All of the food are delicious and that's why we bother to visit. Anyway, allow the food critque in me to surface. Although the prata at thomson was good, I don't like crispy prata. I like those crispy on the outside and soft in the inside kind of prata. And just to make a comparison, chinatown's yang zhi gan lu is better than the liang seah street's one even though liang seah's has more grapefruit puree but chinatown's has thicker and more flavourful mango paste.

Anyway, we did something like this for new year day. Went to jiaqi's house for countdown. Intended to cook but our previous activity ate into so much of our time. Reached jia's at 1130pm, watched the tv while we ate sushi that jia's sister bought for us so that we won't miss the countdown which we always have the tendency to (... recalls that during some year, we missed the newyear countdown. Countdown thrice okay! but still miss. Twice early, once late). Watched dvd then we set off for supper oh no wait. We set off after I'm done with my diarrhea.

Went bukit timah for teochew porridge. Then planned to search for desserts wee hours in the morning. Tried mohamad sultan road. Didn't find any so we just strolled along the streets all the way till clarke quay. You can see people puking everywhere along the way and the people are rather high and crazy. Saw a few familiar faces. When we were there, we were sort of like the centre of attraction. We were in teeshirt, shorts and slippers wahahah so now you know why. It's quite an experience to go to these kinda of night spots with a different agenda because you get see the night scene from another perspective.

Rest at this colourful bridge over singapore river until I complaint of thirst. You know, kinda like dehydration from diarrhea earlier the day and was quite unbearable. We left the bridge at almost 6am, in time to look for breakfast. Probably it's a public holiday, markets like tiong bahru, bugis were not opened. So we went to newton but they don't sell breakfast. So, we went back to timah to have tauhuey, chwee kuay, cai tau kuay etc... it's the same old place we started out, but no choice la, we were all tired and hungry and that one confirm will be opened cause my parents frequent the place wee hours in the morning. Nevertheless, nice food :). Went back to jia's at 8am, watched tv, rest, bathe and then we went home at 10am.

It's a beautiful christmas morning. The sun is shining, the breeze is light and refreshing and the birds are chirping happily outside my window, but yet I'm sitting right here in my room, waiting for my hair to dry so I can go to sleep. Just reached home from last night craziness hehe.

Christmas eve was fun! Although it was quite packed, it was quite fufiling. Went to church in the morning with shufang and sawhoon and then we met law and his family there. Later, I went home to continue sewing and preparing my christmas presents for the night's celebration.

Turn out rate for this year's is good. We have like 12 people gathering for dinner out of 15. Had dinner at Sketches Bugis. Supposedly, had reserved a table for 12 like 5 days before christmas but shit the restaurant they said don't have. But anyway, we still got our 12 seats.

We gave Joey his b'day surprise at the restaurant too. It wasn't really well planned and not very surprising. Law and Jiaqi went to buy the cake. Van and I passed them the lighter after that. Then somehow, all of them went back, leaving me hiding away from the dinner table. As I said, it wasn't well planned. I didn't really know what to do so after awhile, went back to the table from the back of Joey and pulled a big plastic bag from the cake shop over his head and left the cake on the table. After a series of stuffs, asked Joey if he was happy with his surprise and he answered in the oh-so-joey tone, "of course la!" Damn funny.

After that, exchanged our present at the restaurant. It was a systematic, yet messy affair, but nonetheless amusing. Shall highlight some of the interesting presents given :D. Van made chocolates for everyone! Tell you, it's really delicious! I left one for this morning and I just finished it. Law recieved a calender from Js and Joey. Nice calender hahaha. Yvonne, if you are reading this, you should know what kind of calender :D. Chaohua got a calculator from Js, Joey and me cause we thought it's so him. It's like super huge hahaha. It's probably about A4 size. It was so huge that it attracted the attention of the bouncer when ch took out the calculator at Attica.

After all that messy present exchange, we were supposed to help js surprise his gf by creating some sort of atmosphere but in the end, we just choked up the whole place. Anyway, the surprise sort of still went on for Js and his gf while we made ourself scarce after the semi-flop.

Next, we head down to Attica at Clarke Quay to wait for countdown. Law was super gian to club when he reached Clarke Quay. I insist that we shouldn't although I admit that I was a little gian in the end. I guess most of us were sort of tempted too, but we were quite discipline enough to just sit down for a drink. This time round, we make sure that we won't make our trip to the toilet before the countdown lest like last year, we spent the last minute of christmas eve and first minute of christmas in the toilet.

The very last stop of our christmas celebration was Jiaqi's house. Last minute decision to spent the night out for all of us (except for Jiaqi). Reached her place at 3am or so. And attempted to sleep at 4.30am. Notice the word "attempted." Cause we have limited mattress, we were fighting for a warm space and in the end, we just pile on each other and we began taupok-ing before we decide that we share the mattress equally. Then after we settled the mattress problem, we have the hair problem, position problem, fan problem, sneezing problem and blah blah blah. So we were like fighting and laughing the whole of the night. And we finally settle down, guess it was 5 plus, 6am already. Amist all the fighting, we had lots of fun man. That's all about staying over :D.

Left the place at 9am cause most of us have something on in the afternoon.

Yep, that's my Christmas eve last night and christmas this morning :). Seriously, nothing beats spending christmas with all of them.

Haven't been blogging for an unusually long time. Have been busy slacking.

Went for my friend's 21st birthday celebration today. Very much like a get together dinner. Even though my og don't know most of his friends, we sort of really made ourselves comfortable at his place. Had supper at Bedok after the celebration.

That was my very first 21st birthday celebration that I've attended. That made me think of my 21st birthday celebration hahaha! I know it's way too early to think, but I've already thought.

I would like to have a get together bbq too! If I have my 21st b'day celebration, I would definitely invite my sec sch classmates, zu family, jc classmates, choir mates, bedroom gang, the few J2s (as in those 1 year my junior) that I'm still keeping in touch, definitely my uni OGs (yes OGs cause probably by then I would have been an OGL for the next year's orientation or even next next's orientation), and other uni friends that we always hangout together. Shall book a chalet at aloha loyang or aloha changi (the bungalow type if really that many people agree to turn up). Outline of my celebration. BUT. I really hope that eventually, someone will do the planning, the booking and everything so it will be a hassle and stress free birthday celebration for me hahaha! But anyway, I don't mind helping to inform people about my party.

Hint hint. So anyone volunteers to help?

Wahahah I've got my timetable for the next semester already (btw, school will start on 8th of Jan if I'm not wrong). Hahaha I know it's like damn fast. In fact, the timetable was already out before my exams had ended but I only know about it today.

I like my timetable. I will start school at 0830 every morning except on wed. I like it when my lessons starts early in the morning, so that I won't wake up late. I will end school at 1630 on tues, thurs, fri and 1330 on mon. (I hope that's really the parameter of my academic hours in school) Only 1 lesson on wed. I hardly have long breaks, but friday, 5 hours break and that's crazy. I'm going to add one more module and hopefully it's within the 5 hours break or wed morning hahaha.

Had steamboat with my OG at marina bay today and I realised it's the exact same place that we celebrated sawhoon's birthday last year! Moreover, it's almost the same day as last year too! so qiao. I still remembered our stove was on fire and it was super drama. Everyone was staring at our stove like it was some interesting stunt show provided in the midst of a meal. Also, we thought that law was damn great that day cause he killed and chopped crabs. Oh and I was great too because I averted a possible mass diarrhea occuring that day by sampling the pseudo cooked mussels. We had so much fun preparing our food! Hahaha so much for sawhoon's birthday last year. Hmm.. Wonder how would it be like this year.

Woot! Holiday's great so far :D. Done a whole load of things that I yearn but hadn't had the chance to do during the past weeks. Been shopping like almost everyday, went beaching, tuition, practised for audition, clubbing, mahjong, mugged for music theory... How amazing that I can squeeze do much stuff in a matter of 5 days.

Been playing so much that I'm quite guilty that I've not even thought of getting a job (other than tuition) during this 1 and a half month holiday, especially when I see everyone is busy with either work, and for studies for those not having holiday. It's seems like at this age, holiday = must earn $$.

Sighh see, responsibility comes with age. Boooo! I hate responsibilities, but ironically, I'm responsible (i think) hahahaha.

Yes yes! 1 more to go, but 5 more days.

I'm so physiologically and psychologically drained by physics, so I declare that for the next 12 hours, no books, no notes, no material sci! Enjoy!
